I was hesitant at first looking at this but what a difference it made getting bulbs into the ground quickly at a given depth! Definitely would recommend!

Practice makes perfect!

By Vinnie

Comments about : Bulb Bopper®:

Had to do 100 holes 6 inches deep for tulips, was fine for the first dozen or so then got a little tedious cleaning out the dirt. Also, it seemed to bog down as I was drilling and almost overheating the drill. I tried a couple different ways and finally discovered that if I drilled just thru the grass plug, removed it and then finished the job it was much, much easier. Took me just over 2 1/2 hrs to do all 100 of them and that was with a 20 - 25 minute break at the halfway point.

Could be great but...

Great potential, but our drill did not have enough power. I think we need a heavy duty or professional model drill.

Awesome IF you have good soil

Comments about : Bulb Bopper®:

This did help me in certain spots in my yard but I live in Middle Tenn. and it's clay based. I did end up using a hand trowel. The drill just couldn't handle the density and the Bulb Bopper just isn't sharp enough.

Great tool!

This saved so much time and energy! Last year it took two days to dig 50 holes by hand for bulbs, in our heavy clay soil and I hurt my shoulder. This year, with the bopper, I did 28 holes in under an hour. The bulb bopper is a life saver.

This was a great choice.

It is much faster than digging by hand. It picks up the dirt so you can drop the bulb in the hole & put the dirt back in the hole from the cylinder with much less effort that trying to put it on something so you can get it back in the hole without disturbing the mulch too much. I give it a 5 out of 5.

Works as advertised but

Comments about : Bulb Bopper®:

Your results will depend on your soil and your drill. In most soil the Bopper works very well punching a 6" hole in seconds. But a few patches of tight, compacted soil were harder to penetrate causing my 5 Amp corded drill to strain and overheat. One nice feature: the Bopper retains the "plug" of soil removed from the hole so once the bulb is in place in the hole, you can just push the soil out of the Bopper to cover the bulb. Again, sometimes the soil "plug" is sticky and it takes a little work to push it out in pieces but not ever a big deal. Its a great tool for planting bulbs quickly most of the time but in some cases you may need to fiddle a little. High quality and significantly better than a hand bulblplanter or auger.

Nope

I thought this thing would make it possible for me to plant 100 bulbs an hour. I really did. Not in my clay soil. Perhaps it works better in sandy loam? Around here all it really does is get the hole started. I can't create a hole deeper than 2 - 3 inches. That's not deep enough. I have to dig the rest by hand. I regret this purchase. I'm planting 10 daffodils a day instead of 100 an hour.
