Garden Crusader Awards

Garden Crusaders

We established the Garden Crusader Awards in 2001 to honor individuals who are improving the world through gardening.

These awards are designed to honor people who are creating gardens that provide fresh food, clean up urban areas, educate neighborhoods and spark change.

There have been more than 200 Crusader winners during the last 10 years. To learn more, see our list of Garden Crusader Winners, from 2001 to 2010.

We now offer grant programs through two remarkable organizations; both promote gardening as a way to improve the world. They are the American Community Gardening Association and the Green Education Foundation.

Katie Stagliano started Katie's Krops in 2008 to inspire others to start and maintain vegetable gardens and then donate the harvest to help feed people in need. Katie's Krops now offers grants to kids across the country to help them start gardens.
