Place the Wallhugger VegTrug™ along a fence or wall to create a tidy and convenient vegetable growing area in a very small space. It's deeper at the back for large plants like tomatoes, and shallower in front for greens, herbs and other small plants. Grow plants at an easy, ergonomic height; no bending or kneeling to plant, tend and harvest. Wheelchair accessible. The elevated bed means no weeds and fewer pests, too. Great for apartment or condo dwellers with limited space — and you can take it with you if you move! Includes a fitted fabric liner to keep soil contained while letting excess water drain. Plastic feet protect wood from wet surfaces. Quality construction and easy assembly.

Good news-bad news story

Comments about : Wallhugger VegTrug™, 18" x 72":
The wallhugger vegtrug is a great size for a herbs, lettuces, any shallow-rooted vegetable. The "18 x "72 version provides plenty of planting space. The materials are good, not great -- the wood used is soft and relatively lightweight. While I haven't planted anything in it yet, I think it will do a good job of serving it's purpose. However, putting it together is a chore for a number of reasons: 1. The instructions are not clear and the illustrations are too small, making it difficult to see exactly what steps to follow. 2. The design has some problems that make construction difficult; there are numerous "batons" -- pieces of dowling, about "3/4 square, that are installed on the major pieces that are used to align the pieces (side boards, end boards, legs etc.) together. They are helpful, but they are so narrow that in many cases it is almost impossible to get an electric screwdriver/driver in position to drill a screw. While there are pre-drilled holes, they are only in the piece to be attached, not the piece it is being attached to, (ie., the sides are attached to the legs through a baton), but the legs don't have pre-drilled holes (which is understandable since the pieces have to be shifted around during assembly). It the batons were, say, "1 1/2 or "1 3/4wide (in most cases they could be), then you could position your power driver so that the screw would go in straight, then assembly would be much, much easier. I hope Gardeners looks at making these design changes with the supplier for the future. (BTW -- had a great time visiting the Burlington Garden Center during our summer vacation in the Champlain islands this year. It's a bit of a holy pilgrimage for us gardeners!)
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Plan to buy another
By PA Gardener
Love this product and plan to buy another. Have my first one serving as my herb & fairy garden! Very easy to assemble and the wallhugger feature takes up minimum space on my back porch!
Very attractive and what I expected
from Palmer PA
Definitely put in place before you add soil. I put 3 coats of polyurethane on after it was assembled.
Good idea-poorly executed
I had read other reviews so I was prepared. The wood is dry and cracks easily. The stain is thinly applied and will not last. Figure this item will only last a few years. It's a shame that better wood was not used. We are using it for flowers but if I was to use it for veggies I woukd have the paint tested.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I received this elevated bed today and am really disappointed in the quality of the the item. Some of the parts enclosed were splintered and split. The wood is way too soft to be a long term proposal. When assembling , the wood splinters and splits. I also found that some of the parts were not cut correctly which effected the entire finished product. I bought the charcoal finish which was a mistake..it rubs off and shows all the dings from shipping. I will be surprised if it makes it through one season.

Great for high altitude gardening
from Salida, CO
I have 2 wall huggers and one full size trough with greenhouse covers. Growing vegetables at 7000 ft can challenging with temperature potential in the 30's through June. I have tomatoes, squashes, beets, peppers and herbs in the vegtrugs and put cold tolerant veggies in beds below the wall huggers. Vegtrugs have protected the veggies and herbs hail and frost. They are a perfect solution for high altitude gardening.

Incredibly flimsy construction.Wood is quite soft, crushes easily. Very thin layer of spray paint, so scratches would be readily noticeable.Parts only fit together approximately.
Looks great. Sturdy. Easy to assemble. Perfect size: not too big, not too small.
