Frame and Covers for 72" Trough and Wallhugger VegTrugs™

  • Outfit your 72", flat-back Trough or Wallhugger VegTrug with a convenient frame plus durable greenhouse, insect, and frost covers
  • Protect plants from cold temperatures, harsh winds, heavy rains and insect attack
  • Designed to fit the 18" x 72" Trough VegTrug and 18" x 72" Wallhugger VegTrug, sold separately

The frame and greenhouse cover creates a protected microclimate for plants in your 72" long, flat-back Trough or Wallhugger VegTrug™. You can start planting earlier in spring and extend the growing season later into fall for an even bigger and better harvest. The steel frame installs in minutes with convenient push-fit connectors, and the reinforced polyethylene greenhouse cover has heavy-duty stitching and zippers. The cover slips snugly over the frame and attaches with strong VELCRO® brand tabs. Zips open for ventilation and easy access to crops.

Note: The following covers are designed specifically for use with the frame from the VegTrug Frame & Greenhouse Cover set.

Once the weather warms up, you can replace the greenhouse cover with the Insect Cover, sold separately. The polyethylene micro-mesh cover protects plants from insects, birds, harsh winds and hungry deer. To install, simply remove the greenhouse cover from the frame, and then install the insect cover in its place. Attaches with strong VELCRO brand tabs. Zips open for ventilation and easy access to crops.

For extra frost protection, use the Frost Cover, sold separately. Made from nonwoven polypropylene, it protects plants from cold temperatures, wind and frost, allowing you to extend the growing season earlier in spring and later into fall. To install, simply remove the greenhouse cover from the frame, and then install the frost cover in its place. Attaches with strong VELCRO brand tabs. Zippers allow easy access to plants.

Comments about : Frame & Greenhouse Cover For 72" Trough and Wallhugger VegTrug™:

I bought this to use with the VegTrug frame and it did a nice job through the growing season. The holes are rather small so you won't get a lot of rain water coming through. The cover is made of a nice solid material that looks like it should last. My only suggestion to Gardeners Supply is to consider providing a Velcro strip at the bottom edge of the cover and a strip for the VegTrug as this would help keep out industrious animals (I had one who ate my parsley and kale). I solved this problem by buying large size alligator clips (used to keep papers together) and using them to clamp the frame to the VegTrug but Velcro would be a bit easier.

Comments about : Frame & Greenhouse Cover For 72" Trough and Wallhugger VegTrug™:

I was going to make my own cover for my VegTrug using bamboo stakes and netting and then found this. It is much better than anything I could have done. The frame goes together easily and fits well in the VegTrug. You just need to screw it in to the wood so it stays attached. It only took a few minutes to do and looks very nice. I have been using the insect cover during the summer and it has worked well. I will put the greenhouse cover on for the fall and again in the spring so I can extend my growing season a few weeks. The only reason I gave it fours stars is I did have an industrious animal who was able to get between the cover and the frame and feast on my kale and parsley. I solved this problem by buying large size alligator clips (used to keep papers together) and using them to clamp the frame to the VegTrug. Problem solved! Gardeners Supply might want to consider providing a Velcro strip at the bottom edge of the cover and a strip for the VegTrug as this would be a bit easier
The other thing to consider is what you will be growing in the frame. I grew tomato plants that went higher than the frame so I needed to leave to cover open, which was not a big deal. It would be nice if Gardener's Supply offered an extra high frame for such situations.

Comments about : Frame & Greenhouse Cover For 72" Trough and Wallhugger VegTrug™:

All the veg trug covers have been excellent. Can also be used as a stand alone for quick coverage of greenhouse plants that need extra protection. Zipper in the middle makes access to plants easy so you don't have to pull the whole thing off. Looks and feels tough but this is my first season so I'm not sure about durability.

bought to complete the covers, all of them fix to frame with Velcro, but the fit is good enough that it would not be needed except in the wind. This has small pin hole. Most insects will not enter. Diffuses sun light, minimal increase of heat. Construction appears adequate need time.

frame is simple to put together, has a set of attachment clips at either end that requires a screwdriver. Fixes the frame to the box. Covers fit and attach to frame with Velcro. The "green house" cover could be placed either over or under the blanket if both are needed.
