Clematis Trellis

Most clematis are climbers that require some sort of trellis or vertical support. If it can't find something to help it climb it will stop growing, so be sure to provide it a climbing structure when you plant your new clematis. It will climb by wrapping its leaf stems around anything that's less than 1/2" in diameter such as twine, wire, netting, thin branches or a formal trellis like those shown below.
