This super-sturdy crop cage protects your crops from animal and bird pests. The rustproof, 16mm tubular aluminum frame is secured with heavy-duty slot-and-lock connectors and three-way corner braces to form a strong, stable structure. The fitted, 7mm netting is held in place with 30 Storm-Proof Clips: In a storm or high winds, the clips detach and the netting falls to the ground over the plants below. This prevents damage to the frame — and your crops stay protected. Two doors, each made with two heavy-duty zippers, provide easy access. The frame uprights are inserted 8" into the ground for stability. Includes 24 galvanized steel ground pegs to hold netting in place.

Great concept with poor hardware

Comments about : Storm Proof Crop Cage, Large:
We bought the large strorm proof cage to cover a large VegTrug in order to keep out Deer, Rabbits and Birds. The cage is big enough to surround the VegTrug and does provide Deer proofing but you have to create the doors yourself which takes some doing and the real problem is with the black clips they provide to hold the net to the frame. They do not hold the net up very well & in very hot weather they just kept releasing. The black clips would come out of the netting and get lost in the grass. They also didn't even supply enough of them so we could replace them. We just bought round thin shower curtain clips to hold the netting to the frame. They definitely hold the net much better then their clips but they also won't release in case of a big storm wind. Hopefully all will be well and we won't have to worry about that?

Not worth the money
from Central PA
I thought this would be the solution to all our problems with deer and it was more trouble than it was worth. The clips don't hold well, so the betting dropped frequently. Even with the zippers installed it still made it challenging to get to the middle of a bed.

The answer to our problem
By Serendipity garden
from Louisville, KY
Squirrels had discovered our garden and they were eating our vegetables before we could harvest them. I saw the cage and thought that we would try it. We bought one at first and it worked perfectly, as described, so we bought another. We are now able to enjoy all our vegetables. We leave the doors open most of the day and small animals and birds seem to recognize the danger of being caught inside and give it a wide berth. I gave this product 4 stars because I cannot yet comment on the behavior of the cage during a big thunderstorm. If it performs as described, it will be a 5 star product in my opinion.

The plastic clips at the top need "twisty"to hold it
from Tulsa, Oklahoma
The plastic clips that hold the need up need something like "twisty" vine holders to keep them from coming loose!

Peace of mind is priceless
from Schenectady, NY
I garden in an urban area so while we don't have deer, we have plenty of rabbits, groundhogs, chipmunks, voles, etc. I first bought the medium size and I thought about protecting the blueberry crop, but then realized the cabbage moths could not get in either so after the blueberries were done, I moved the cage to protect my Brussel sprouts and red cabbage. I know have 2 large cages and bought another medium. A worthy investment!

Keeps the animals from eating all my food
from Parker, CO
Works great for enclosing the 2x8 raised bed and other containers I have. The only con I have is that when we first set it up, the slightest breeze would blow the net down because there weren't enough hooks to make it more stable. I went to BB&B and got some cheap magnetic shower curtain hooks and that fixed the issue. It now holds up to the wind & rain but if it hails, it will drop like it's supposed to. I love that it keeps the wildlife from my garden. Thank you!

So far so good
By Busy bee
A bit complicated to set up (easier with two people) but now that it's up it works as promised. Buy extra metal stakes (don't buy the plastic ones which don't work well) if you have squirrels or chipmunks that like to get under the netting. Placing the stakes a foot apart as recommended will leave too many gaps. We are still working out where to place the zippers but are happy with the purchase so far.
