If you're searching for a look that's anything but subtle, plant a huge drift of Snow Crocus bulbs. Everyone knows that crocuses are the harbingers .of spring with their white, yellow and purple flowers shimmering in the sunlight. In the language of flowers, crocus translates to cheerfulness, which is what these bright darlings bring to the garden. Hardy and drought tolerant, they multiply and return year after year. Growing just 6-8" tall, they're great planted beneath shrubs and deciduous trees, along walkways, and even in containers on patios, decks, and porches. Crocuses are amazingly easy to grow, and are carefree and naturalizing. They attract butterflies, birds and bees and are deer and rabbit resistant.
Growing Instructions: Select a spot in the garden that receives full sun to light shade where the soil drains well. Loosen the soil, and plant the bulbs, pointy end up, approximately 8" deep and 5-6" apart. Tamp down the soil and water well after planting. Foliage should be left to die back naturally as it provides the nutrients the bulb will need to grow and flower the following year.
