Pop Up Protectors trap insulating air inside and block cold winter winds, shielding shrubs and tender perennials from extreme cold and damaging temperature fluctuations. Ideal for compact evergreens, including arborvitae and dwarf Alberta spruce, as well as perennials like lavender that often suffer damage in cold weather. There are two sizes: Large and X-Large. They can be used on their own or stacked on top of each other, depending on the size of the plant you're trying to protect.
A removable mesh top provides ventilation, and it offers easy access so you can add leaves or mulch to add an extra measure of insulation against extreme cold. Rock pockets on the inside allow you to anchor the protectors in place, even if the ground is already frozen.

Comments about : Pop-Up Plant Protector, X-Large:
I bought these to protect my potted herbs during freezes. So far so good and so easy to use. I can just lift up to snip the herbs whenever I want. We had horrendous winds and they stayed in place no problem!!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought 13 of these last year. Even with 2 bricks they blow over fairly easily. A strong winter New England wind rips the holders staked into the ground right off the plant protector itself. Once it snows, they stay in place pretty well held by the snow . Otherwise, I had to regularly adjust and right them. Should've had 4 bricks to hold it down.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

These pop ups will help shield the azaleas from any ice or snow tossed in their direction. They'll also be great as a last minute protector should there be any last spring snowstorms.
how easy is this

Nothing could be easier than using these. I used to use sheets of garden fabric with a bunch of clothespins to hold it. These are so easy to use. I live in the foothills, and large rocks are everywhere; so it is difficult to drive a stake in the ground. These have a pocket for a rock on each side, so no stakes are needed to hold this down.

I really like the design. They are easy to work with and compact for storage (much easier than the ones I formerly used that used small tent poles). Buy stakes, however. I'm not convinced the rock pocket will keep these stationary during heavy winds. Would give 5 stars if these included stakes.
Wonderful winter home for my babies

This is a great product & keeps my hydrangeas quite cozy under it's walls. I had these on some plants & not others when winter started & those plants stayed green even after the first snow here!! I was truly amazed. I wish there were an option for a rounded version though because my planters are round so I have to either get very small covers & wedge them into the circle or use the xl & place it around the circle on the rocks, in which case I cannot stake it down; I've been on several hunts through the sagebrush to recover those carried off by the wind -probably entertainment for my neighbors though. :-) The stitching for the cover loops needs to be a bit more sturdy though, however, the one I had that was missing loop attachments was promptly replaced when I wrote to inquire about getting a mesh top replacement ---they sent me an entire new cover!! The loops that have come loose from repetitive use are easily fixed with a needle & thread so that's quick at least. Wonderful pleasure working with the folks at gardeners & that's why I come back again & again. Thank you very much!

Covered my three boxwood with these. They were planted in the spring of 2017.Too early to tell how plants will be next spring. Where we live it is very windy and with 10" staples we had they have not budged one inch. Very pleased.
Yes, I would buy this again!

This is a great plant protector. I would suggest using the pocket to weight it with a rock. I initially used ground stakes, then the notorious South Dakota wind sent the whole thing sailing away! I never found two of them! I'm sure some farmer will come across them in their field next spring!
Does the job nicely

It's exactly what we needed, easy to use, will probably get the two smaller ones to fit on top next year.
This product was exactly what I was looking for! Easy to install and store!
