Support the declining monarch butterfly population by planting beneficial habitat that includes the milkweed plants their larvae need to survive. Simply toss these seed balls on prepared soil to grow clusters of several milkweed varieties. Each seed ball contains a packet's worth of seed, rolled with a proprietary mix of organics and clay to provide ideal growing conditions. Rain and watering dissolves the clay, allowing the seeds to sprout surrounded by a source of nutrients. The rustic burlap bag contains eight seed balls. Handmade in the USA by a company that employs persons with disabilities.

Easy milkweed for butterflies
By TN gardener
from Knoxville, Tennessee
Butterflies add a special touch to a flower garden, and what better way to attract than with milkweed -- the ultimate dinner menu for picky monarchs, but appreciated by other butterflies as well. As these seed balls are produced by disabled workers, the purchase also sends a vote of confidence to that community.
from New Jersey
When I originally reviewed this product I was discouraged because they had not sprouted. After a month and a half, all balls have begun to grow! Guess it just takes a lot of patience. We will see how hardy the plants are, but I am hopeful.

Of all the balls that were planted only one has sprouted. I that was several weeks ago. I keep watching. This is my second order of these balls with the same poor results. I really want to be successful with them as they were a gift for my granddaughter and I like the idea of supporting adults with disabilities who pack them. My grandkids have a butterfly garden. We start the balls indoors with the hope of putting them in their garden when they sprout. Still waiting.....

Product Not As I Hoped

I thought I'd give these seed balls a try, despite negative reviews, because they were on sale. However, they did not sprout at all. I was hoping to see at least a few blooms!

I just made a butterfly garden and added this to it. I'm so excited to see if I get to see a monarch in my garden.
