Not a very quality self-water system

    • Single-walled not double like other Lakelands

Comments about Lakeland Self-Watering Patio Planter:

This planter is not the same quality as the 20 inch square Lakeland self watering planter. First off it is single walled instead of double walled. A tray is supposed to hold the soil above the water resivoir. This is where the design is flawed. Only two side protrusions on the inside hold the tray. After filling the inner weep holes with rocks, soil, plants and finally watering, the tray slipped beyond the protrusion dumping most of the soil to the bottom of the planter. I had to take it all apart, clean, and try again. This time I used a self watering bag like the one that comes with some tomato planters. Sure enough, held until I watered then slipped again. I only watered with two gallons as I wanted to see if the tray would hold the weight. No, was the answer.
All that said, the planter looks good, matches my other Lakeland planters, and is useable. Unfortunately, the self watering system doesn't work. The double walled Lakeland planters work great.
