You’ll be amazed at how fast and healthy your seedlings grow. We’ve solved the challenges of over- or under-watering with the no-fail self-watering feature. Simply fill the reservoir and plants get the water they need, when they need it. That’s worry-free watering! Forget flimsy, single-use look-alike seed starting kits; our heavy-duty system is reusable, again and again. It includes an extra-sturdy leak-proof reservoir, platform and planting cell tray that are all dishwasher-safe, making them easy to clean and sterilize between uses. And the capillary mat, which delivers moisture as seedlings need it, can be used over and over; simply hand wash between uses. A clear germination cover maintains proper humidity while the seeds are germinating. The support platform that holds the planting cells doubles as a seedling ejector. All at an unbeatable price! We recommend using our Organic Seed Starting Mix, sold separately.

Comments about : GrowEase Seed Starter Kit, 12 Cells:
Strong construction and easy to clean. Easy to use. However, it is almost impossible to pop the seedlings out of the cells, without losing most of the soil.Next year, I will try extricating the seedlings using a spoon. Hopefully that will work

I live in an area where you can direct sow a lot of seeds. I used this along with just a regular pot and truthfully whole the regular pot sprouted noticeably faster and had a better germination rate, I think the error was probably on me since it was my first time using the tray. It definitely keeps the cells moist which was a plus! It's a great idea.

it works great for starting seeds

When I first received these, I was impressed by their durability and design. However, problems soon emerged. The germination mix became saturated and I had to remove the capillary mat and reservoir until it all dried out a bit. After that, I put the sets back together, but they didn't seem to stay evenly moist - there were always a few cells which were wetter or drier than the others. However, the worst part was getting the seedlings out! The soil stuck to the sides and wouldn't push out. I used a plastic knife around the edges to coax the seedlings out but still lost a lot of roots. So disappointing and now it's too late to start over until next year.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I have used the APS kits for years...with consistently great results. However, the new "Growease" kit is a total disaster. Bottom line: it is so poorly designed that it is impossible to get your seedlings out of the tray without doing serious damage to them. The only way I could get them out was to use a spoon as a mini-trowel and dig them out. I am surprised and appalled that Gardeners Supply is selling such a poorly designed product to its customers.

These Are Perfect
I used these for seed starting under fluorescent tubes. They're the perfect size to fit under the lights so you can lower it to 3" above the seedlings and all the light is directed to all the plants. The perfect width.
Better than available from big box stores.

Harvest earlier by starting seeds indoors

I like that this is made from post-consumer recycled materials and that it is reusable. I like that it can be cleaned in the dishwasher. I very much appreciate that it is sturdy and that it has a wicking system to prevent over- or under-watering tender seedlings. This is a great way to get a jump on the growing season by starting seeds indoors!

When I've tried to start seeds in the past, I occasionally forgot to check moisture levels and the soil dried out too much. With this set up, I didn't need to add water for almost 3 weeks and all of my seeds sprouted and are doing well.
I did buy this product again!!!
I love them!!! Going out of town is easy no need for the house sitter to water my plants. I can reuse them next year.
