The chore of sifting clumps and unfinished bits out of compost just got much easier! This flexible sifter uses a simple rocking motion, so it's much easier on the back and shoulders than the back-and-forth shaking required by standard metal or wood sifters. Perfect for making fine-textured seed starting blends and potting mixes and handy for screening soil for smooth garden beds. Easy to clean; just hose it down, let it dry and store until next use.

A good start on productive composting
This little sieve is lightweight, and I suspect the seams will give out after a few uses, but as an easy way to experience the gratification of pulling soft, black compost out of my first-time, messy heap of debris and food scraps it did the job. Sometimes the quick and easy way is exactly what you need.
this is exactly what I needed

I have a small two bin home compost system and this is exactly what I needed for sifting. I am now also using it when I am weeding or clearing an area as to lose much less of my soil in the transfer.

Mesh is rather fine
I have a small dual tumbler composter on my condo patio. I tried to use the easy riddle compost sieve on the finished compost but could only get about 5% of the compost to go through. The mesh measures 1/4" so it is very fine. It was useful for picking out the worms to move them over to the unfinished side. I will continue to use it for this purpose. If it had a 1/2" mesh it would be more helpful to me. I use the Gardener's supply coir bricks in my composter. Perhaps they don't break down as much as the kitchen waste.
Makes sifting compost a breeze!
I used to use an old fashioned heavy sifter to separate the large undecomposed parts of my compost from the finer decomposed parts. It was a back breaking task. This lightweight version makes the job much easier. I wish I had gotten it sooner

So easy to use beats hauling a wagon full of compost. Fill it up or not-easy and compact!

During the first use of this product, the screen pulled away from the sidewall. Useless and disappointing.

Ergonomic but slow
By Jeff in Reading
from Reading, MA
The sieve does a good job of keeping compost contained, and the ergonomics do decrease arm and shoulder strain when sifting. The main problem is that the sieve is much slower in sifting compost than my old homemade sifter with wire mesh. It takes a long time to get through even a modest amount of compost. I definitely recommend if you don't have much compost to sift, but if you have a decent compost pile, this is probably not the product for you.

I bought this one because it was larger and less expensive than the rigid ones. I don't know how long it will last, but it did the job, so I'm happy with it. It's also easier to store than a rigid one.
