Growing your own gourmet mushrooms is a fun and rewarding family activity. With this easy-to-use kit, you can start harvesting mini portabellas (also known as crimini mushrooms) in three to five weeks, or let them continue to grow and they'll reach 3" to 5" across. You'll get several crops over an 8- to 12-week period. The first two or three crops are large, often filling the box with mushrooms; subsequent crops get smaller until the mushrooms finally stop. Please start growing within 2 weeks of arrival.

Don't buy or gift if recipient travels
from Ft. Wayne, Indiana
Comments about : Crimini Baby Bella Mushroom Kit:
We grow a large garden so gift giver thought this was a good idea. I received it for Christmas and had plans to travel the end of January, but had to start within 2 weeks so I took a chance. Not much happened but again had plans to be gone at the end of February. By the time I got back the mushrooms I had were huge and I felt that they might not be good so I disposed of them..Continued on but never got any more....Bottom line: Give to or be a "stay at home" person to possibly enjoy this gift...I felt bad that the gift givers money was wasted.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Best Xmas gift to my Husband in 39 years
My husband was just getting into Mushrooms and talking of walking the woods looking for them.Thought this would be a fun way to get his interest growing rather then a book. He checks and watchesthe three boxes . Had a slow start and I was afraid we lost them in the cold as fed Ex dropped on doorstep and did not even ring the doorbell on the coldest day this year and in MN that is very cold. But they are doing fine. So the only suggestion is use a different shipper.
fun Christmas gift!
from Dover, DE
We had purchased this for ourselves in the past and had great fun with it, so when drawing brother-in-law's name for Christmas, it seemed like a fun gift. We are getting happy pictures weekly from the gift recipient, showing how the mushrooms are growing.

Too early to tell.

It is too early to tell how this product should be rated. The mushrooms have not started to sprout. It has been one week since the project was set up. Am waiting to see the results.
Great Christmas gifts
Sent one to our son and one to our son-in-law. Both have been enjoying watching them grow. Will send them again.

I have no idea what I could have done wrong, but I started the kit on December 22nd and have gotten exactly 2 mushrooms.
