This crock is the perfect vessel for making homemade sauerkraut and kimchi, as well as pickling a wide variety of vegetables including beets, beans, carrots and cucumbers. The water trough airlock allows carbon dioxide and other fermentation gases to escape while keeping out air. Includes crock and top, as well as weights that keep vegetables submerged for effective fermentation.

Comments about : Complete Fermentation Crock, 2.5 Gallon:
We have one we use at home. Weights, which are an asset for fermenting, require special attention to prevent them from developing mold.

nice companion to the smaller size crock
from New Hampshire
I purchased this crock as well as the 1.3 gallon size. I liked the kit option with the weights included, makes submerging the vegetables much easier than using a plate or water-filled plastic bag. This size crock gives the option of fermenting or pickling a large quantity of vegetables at once and having both sizes allows the option of having batches of two different vegetables fermenting at the same time. The water moat at the top of the crock allows the gasses to escape and eliminates having to "burp" the container daily. Very easy to use, looks nice on the counter top.

Now I have everything I need for fermentation!
Early on in its use and it appears to be a quality piece.

For some the loaded weight may be an issue to move from kitchen (first day to two to get the process started) to a basement, this combined with narrow handles may present a challenge. Other than these items the crock is well made and I expect it to be a piece I wiill be able to use for many years.

Fermentation Crock ..Making Sauerkraut
By Mickey Mouse
from Arvada, Colorado
The Crock provides a wonderful system for making Sauerkraut and other fermented foods. Best of all is the water seal. Fermentation gases leave the crock, enter the water seal and are eliminated in the water. There is no foul smell in my house! I love it.

This crock is worth the money. I have been searching for one about this size for a few years, but were too expensive for me until now. We love home made sauerkraut and fermented vegetables. I may even try fermenting a small batch of liquid such as beer, wine, ginger ale. I like that it came with weight stones. It looks very nice in my kitchen. I don't have to hide it! The one drawback was no real instruction manual or recipes. It came it basically a flyer with very general, somewhat vague instruction for use.A very minor issue, though, as I can easily find recipes on the internet.
