Placing empty glass bottles (wine bottles, antique bottles, colorful bottles) in the garden as a way to trap evil spirits is a Southern tradition. These days, a bottle tree is also a way to remember a special celebration or add sparkling color to a quiet spot in the garden.

My Second One Of These Trees....Not Pleased.
from Georgetown, Tx.
Just bought a new one to replace our old one that was four+ years old. All, but five bottles came crashing down yesterday, what a mess, and heartbreaking! I had it anchored because it didn't seem sturdy enough, staked on three side. It broke off at the base, my beautiful bottle collection destroyed...I'm not pleased at all!!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Not the sturdiest tree
This is a great concept, but it is NOT sturdy. Once all the bottles are on, you may find you need to secure it in some fashion. We secured ours with tent poles and twine and tied it to our air conditioning unit as well. It is beautiful but not well made.

No Watering Required!
This is a delightful touch of color, placed near my side porch. I had to work the soil to push the prongs totally into the ground and I worried some about a a strong wind + the weight of the bottles possible tipping it over. I secured the base some by piling 3 rows of paving bricks on top of it....worked great and looks super!
PrettyBut Not Durable

I loved this when I first got it and enjoyed seeing it when I came home. However, it is poorly constructed and doesn't last long. The whole thing is screwed into the base by a bolt at the bottom. On mine, the bolt broke at the base, leaving part of it inside. Even if I could get that out, the bolt head is welded on so it cannot be removed. Enjoy it for a while.

Just what I was looking for. Sturdy, well made and a reasonable price. Quick shipping.

Wish the description would have been more forthcoming on the manufacturer's recommendation that this needs to be set in concrete. Also, watch out if you live in a windy area that could bang the bottles together and break them. But it looks very much like the picture when set up.
