Additional Information

Jewel-Toned Anemone for Late Spring Blooms

Anemones are excellent when planted in rows for a color border. Colorful semi-double flowers, anemones provide color from late spring to early summer and are the erfect flower for a cutting garden. The plants you receive may range from having leaves and actively growing, to being in a dormant (resting) state and showing few if any signs of life. However, you can be assured that plants are ready to spring to life once they're planted.

Growing instructions: If you're not in zones 7-10, you can plant these tubers in pots in fall for overwintering in cool but frost free areas (e.g., greenhouse, sun porch or cold frame). Set pots out in early spring. Otherwise, plant tubers early spring for a May-June bloom. Select an area in the garden that receives full sun to partial shade where the soil drains well. Loosen the soil to a depth of 6-10" and amend with compost if necessary, place bulbs into the soil 1-2" below the soil level. Bulbs should be spaced 3-4" apart. Tamp down the soil and water well. Water thoroughly during periods of drought. Special note: In cold growing zones, the rhizomes can be dug up in fall for storage over winter, but it isn't a foolproof process. You may decide to treat these like annuals, repurchasing each year.
