This innovative planter makes it easier than ever to surround your home with lush, colorful plants. The patented design includes sturdy brackets that easily adjust to fit railings from 1" to 4-1/4" wide. Simply lock the support arm to the desired width, hang the planter, then fill with your favorite flowers or herbs. No tools, mounting hardware or drilling required. A hidden adjustable support bar keeps planter level. A fast, easy and secure way to add flower boxes to railings along a deck or balcony, or bring color to fences. The evaporative grid self-watering system with 1-3/4 quart reservoir helps keep plants healthy and lets you water less often. Not suitable for round railings.

Non Selfwatering Planter
from Seattle, WA
Comments about : Adjustable Self-Watering Railing Planter, 32":
I wish I had read the reviews of this product before I purchased it as I am disappointed. I have other real self-watering planters from Gardener's Supply, and this is not comparable. First, there isn't an indicator telling you the water level is low. Second, I cannot find a reservoir that holds water, or even a hole where one would pour water into. Maybe, there is one, and I just can't see it? Must constantly water on your own timeline, because these are really not self-watering.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Railing Planters for my new home
from Bellingham WA
These fit my metal railing system when secured correctly and filled with the correct light weight plant medium.I don't really think the self watering works that well but I like the boxes. My question is how should they be stored in the Winter? Thank you in advance.

Our 2nd story deck railing is a vertical board (1"), with vertical angled slats nailed to the boards - so difficult to find a planter that will fit. When I saw these in the calalog I was thrilled - the prefect solution - I thought. The brackets bowed from the railing and now, 3 months later, 2 of 4 have broken and fallen. The other self-watering pots I've gotten from Gardner's Supply had openings to into the reservoirs so I can see if there is a need for water. These planters don't. I must water until it spills out of the cracks in the bottom - never knowing if I'm overwatering or not. ...so disappointed.

circle = broken/fallen planter. Arrows show railing
Merchant response: These planters have a railing support, which is a critical step in making sure the planter stays positioned correctly. Its possible these were not used, and a quick call to customer service could have helped. If you make a purchase from Gardener's and you are not satisfied don't wait to call us. Contact us right away at 1-800-876-5520 so that we can make things right.

The quality of this plastic planter was disappointing. The supports for the rail do not look like they will support the planter full of soil and plants. My old planters have metal brackets that are sturdy and easily adjustable. This plastic support system looks unstable and tacky.
great flower box!

I purchased 3 of these boxes for my deck railings. They assembled easily and have plenty of planting space. I loved the adjustable hangers to fit many railing widths. The construction is sturdy and I like the pins that prevent the front of the box from bending out when filled with flowers. Even my husband commented on the good construction. I wish it came in brown which is my railing color. I think they will last for many years. This is a great product for a reasonable price.

These perfect planters for a city high rise condo building. It fit nicely on the railing, the kit including soil is perfect for condo dwellers. I was easy to set up and fill. Growing some herbs and flowers on the balcony in a city is very nice. The plants were purchase at the Saturday morning Market on the Square in Madison.

About Me Getting Started
very attractive - but it was misleading on how it was 'self watering'. I was under impression that there was an indicator when it needed more water like your other 'self watering' window boxes. Need better descriptions and visuals on how they work

Does NOT work if the railing is not flat
from Fairmont, WV
I chose this because it was supposed to adapt to non-standard rails. The first time it fell off the rail, I thought I must not have had the lower "bars" snug enough against the vertical slats of the deck, so I cleaned everything up, made it as tight as possible and figured I was good. Nope. The securing pins popped, and the planter looked like a twister hit it.I'm not sure if this is a bad product or whether my deck is just not flower box material. I'm ordering a hanging basket instead...
