The appealingly simple shape of this rain barrel conceals a number of smart features. In addition to a brass tap for filling a watering can, there’s a threaded fitting in the bottom for attaching a garden hose. The childproof top has a non-corroding screen to catch leaves and other debris. The overflow spout can be connected to a second rain barrel, and the decorative feet make it extremely stable. Plus the style, resembling a stoneware olive jar, is a pleasing alternative to whiskey-style barrels. Made of durable polyethylene.

These are great rain barrels!
from Knoxville, TN
Comments about : 75-Gallon Rain Barrel:
I purchased one of these rain barrels about 8 years ago and was so impressed that I have acquired two more since then. With these three barrels and a smaller one, I collect 275 gallons of water from .4 inch of rain. The lower cleanout spigot makes it easy to hose down the inside of the barrel, emptying the water completely.

Lonely Widow in Love With a Rain Barrel . . .
I loved the smaller version (55 gallons) and felt bad to have to leave it at my former home, although the buyers were thrilled. Now, I bought the taller version (75 gallons) which frankly, looks even better to me than the smaller one did. (Perhaps because I have a taller house?) Actually, I haven't even hooked it up to the gutter system yet but because of my steep roof, location and laziness but it's still filling up with water. I researched and others have done the same thing. And it's not shallow but perhaps I am because I just love the way it makes the front corner of my house look. It's like beautiful, giant, garden sculpture that many people admire. It does resemble stone and has a very elegant design and is a testiment to my good taste and eco-orientation, yes? Oh, and great customer service. I messed up on my order but was contacted for a prompt and efficient correction. So gee, I hope I don't have to move again and can find an ancient, gardening boyfriend here. . .

The spigot is securely attached, there is a hose attachment and overflow tube too. I use it to supplement our soaker hoses.

Great looking and environmentally friendly!
By Garden Ready
I love the look of this urn. It is BIG so make sure you have a place for it. I plan to hook up a soaker hose and use the rainwater to keep my garden moist this summer. I'm so glad my 17 year old daughter talked me into getting it!

By Julie the joyful gardener
from Cedar City, UT
When I first unpacked my two rain barrels, I was pleased by their handsome appearance and stability since I planned to use them as part of my new rain gutter system. However, when my rain gutters were finally installed and I could put the rain barrels in place, I discovered several problems, all to do with lack of quality control. I've listed them below with the worst first:1. Missing overflow opening in one barrel--just a solid indentation where the overflow opening should be. I see a controlled overflow option as essential to keep water away from my foundations.2. Very flimsy spigots that release only a slow trickle of water no matter how much water is in the barrel. The spigots do accept hoses, a good idea, but the release of water is so slow, that watering from the spigot though a hose is impractical.3. One spigot that tightens into place upside down. This spigot leaks around its edges when it is right side up.4. Spotty and sloppy sealant application on all three opening in one barrel.A distasteful smear of grease has been added to the sealant around this barrel's spigot.5. As other reviewers have noted, spigot placement too low to accomodate even a small watering can. The designers seem to assume all users will want to elevate the barrel, something that is not necessary in my situation because my garden space is nearby and very low.6. A top screen that deflects water and causes a significant amount of it to bounce off before in goes into the barrel. I am so very disappointed in this product, probably because I so firmly expected that by buying the most expensive model offered, I would see be rewarded with good function and high quality. Still returning the barrels doesn't seem a practical option. This website's policies seem to indicate that the original shipping costs--more than$100 dollars for the two barrels--aren't refundable in case of returns. Even if accommodation is made for defective products, there's also expense and trouble involved in packing up and sending back such large items. I suppose I'll have to make the best of things by adding sealant, fashioning a screen that doesn't deflect water, drilling out my own overflow opening, and using the only effective part of the rain barrels--their bottom hose connections which do release the water with an appropriate amount of flow. My advice to potential buyers is to skip this product unless they have tolerance for shoddy workmanship and the willingness to make their own modifications and repairs. I've enjoyed Gardeners Supply products in the past, but now I see the risk is ordering large and expensive-to-ship items and won't do it again.

Great barrel spout is from the 1800s
from Staatsburg ny
The spout is slow and is the the packed washer type that will leak quite quickly.I use a leader hose with a valve at the end so I keep the spout valve open to reduce wear. Other than that it is a great barrel and the drain works great.
from Garland Texas
Love it. Blends in with the house.
