Potting Soil Mixes FAQs
What's the difference between organic and regular potting mix?
Our Organic Potting Mix includes bio-blended compost so plants can sink their roots into living soil packed with microbes, fungi, and nutrients that they need for robust growth -- just as Mother Nature intended. Bio-blended compost -- along with coir, peat, and volcanic perlite -- provide natural structure, allowing in plenty of air and providing a superior balance of moisture drainage and retention. SuperRoot Mycorrhizae helps plants fight off diseases and better absorb water and nutrients. If you prefer organic soils with naturally derived nutrients, your plants will reward you with outstanding growth in the Organic Potting Mix. Our regular Potting Mix is a top-choice economical blend of SuperRoot Mycorrhizae, coir, peat, perlite, starter nutrients, limestone for improving nutrient intake, and a natural wetting agent to manage moisture. It offers everything that your plants need to thrive. With the regular application of organic fertilizer, your plants will reach for the sky in our regular potting mix.
Should you add water to potting mix before planting?
We recommend pre-moistening the planting mix before use by adding lukewarm water and stirring until it is uniformly moist but not soggy.
Does potting mix expire?
Yes, there should be a best buy date printed on the bag. You can still use the expired potting mix as long as you rejuvenate it.
