Gardener's Revolution® Planter - Item #39-338

We're sorry, but this item is no longer available.

A Revolutionary Way to Grow Tomatoes!

The Gardener's Revolution Planter® is a fun and easy way to grow tomatoes. It's designed for healthy plant growth and easy maintenance, so you can get a blemish-free harvest anywhere in full sun — even on your deck or by the front door. The planter is sturdy and reusable, with a two-part, powder-coated steel cage and a woven poly liner that lets roots "breathe." The liner opens up for planting, then zips shut, so you won't injure the plant trying to push it through a hole. The planter hangs from our unique swivel hook that makes it a breeze to turn your plant. And now we've improved the top-down water delivery system to make it easier than ever to keep the plant properly watered. Even if you have a regular garden, you'll find that this revolutionary growing system is a fun way to get a picture-perfect harvest of delicious, homegrown tomatoes. Includes planting tips from our own test gardens.

  • A fun way to enjoy fresh, homegrown tomatoes
  • No weeds and fewer pests than in-ground plants
  • Also grows peppers, cucumbers and eggplants

GREAT FOR PEPPER PLANTS

      Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter:

These help me maximize space usage in my greenhouse. They're too small for indeterminate tomatoes; but, just right for peppers especially chilies!

For easy of assembly put the cage together first, add the liner, then the plant followed by the soil mixture. Attach the hanging apparatus and hang while still dry; water well after hanging. I add the reservoir and capillary strips the next day.

        Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter:

I am using these to grow tomatoes. The soil here is pretty poor, and there are some soil-borne diseases present, so I have resorted to growing in containers. Revolution planters appear to be well thought out for ease of planting, hanging method, ease of feeding and watering, and their overall effectiveness. A couple years ago, I tried a very poorly designed plastic "hanging garden" product, with no success whatever. I'm looking for something far better from the Revolution planter. As to whether I would recommend the product to a friend, I'll wait to see whether I get any tomatoes!

              Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter:

This is the third year I have used these planters with success. I not only grow wonderful tomatoes, but peppers and cucumbers too. They always thrive with little care other than water. I have mine hanging from the outside posts off my patio so they don't touch the ground. I also put 2 little plants together to start, and have twice the harvest per planter. The cucumbers vine around the railing of the patio and mingle with other plants by the middle of the summer. I think the new water containers are an improvement with the built in capillary strip. I have had crops still growing into the fall and have frozen plenty of tomatoes and peppers for use during the winter.

              Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter:

This is my third season experimenting with upside-down tomato planters and my first season using the Gardener's Revolution Planter. The biggest problem I had with the "As-Seen-on-TV" upside-down planters was trying to keep the moisture level in the soil correct. No matter how slowly I tried to add water, I was constantly having problems with the water dripping through too fast. Even using a drip watering system with a 1 GPH drip rate, I still could not add water slowly enough to prevent drip through.

The resevoir design in the revolution planter has solved those problems for me. That feature alone is enough to make me love these planters. In addition, I can say that these planters appear to be very built. They are the only upside-down tomato planter I would recommend to a friend.

I found the instructions for assembling these planters a bit confusing and finally decided that one of the pictures was not quite correct. After I figured out how to assemble the first planter, the others were easy.

I purchased three Aqua Scales to use with my Revolution planters, and my experience with the scales has not been as positive as my experience with the planters. You can check my review of the Aqua Scales for details of the issue I am having with them.

My "over 80" parents couldn't manager their garden any longer and I thought this might be a way for them to still have fresh tomatoes without the hassle of a full blown garden. It looks promosing.

                        Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter:

Some aspects of the assembly aren't explained in the instructions. There are three buttonhole-like slots at the top edges of the liners. They are where the hooks go for hanging. There are three locations on the top edge of the wire frame for the hooks and you have to orient the liners in the frame properly. It would make sense if the three locations for the hooks were 120 degrees apart so that you can line any three up, but they are not. Make sure you figure out where they go before you start filling the liner with dirt.

I've just assembled mine; no tomatoes yet, so I'll give a three star review for now.

                        Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter:

I had several of the previous version of this planter. Purchased several of this version because it "opened" to make it easier to plant your plants.
So the theory is good. Planting tomatoes in each planter went fairly well.
The ISSUE that needs improvement is the clips that hold the wire cage together. They are NOT holding well! One clip has totally failed, after only 3 weeks. I've added two small "Zip" ties to each wire cage insure it holds.

Came with no directions so I found them on your website. The plastic snaps to put them together were hard to snap on. I could only get so much dirt in them before I had to zip them up and then trying to hold it one handed so I could finish filling them with dirt. Feeling very frustrated by the time I got done putting them together. I have never used anything like this before so the true test will be to see how well my tomato plants do.
