Rain Water PH versus ground water PH
from Twin cities, MN
Comments about : Rainwater Urn, 50 Gallon:
I recently purchased a rain barrel for my sister and will soon be ordering another for myself. One of the most critical aspects of using rain water for your plants is PH level. Most if not all ground water is high alkaline 7/0 to 11.0 PH. This prohibits the nutrients in your sol from being released. Rain water typically is between 4.5 to 6.5 PH a much higher acid based water. This PH is a major contributor to better utilization of your potting or ground soil mixtures and or fertilizers nutrients.

I may buy another!
I bought this rain barrel to avoid the water gathering by the House from the downspout due to sloping pavement...but I look forward to saving water by using the rainwater on my to-be garden this summer!
I like the fact that it looks so decorative

I would prefer to have the whole top with a screen like your other rainbarrels because it is more flexible that way.
Plan to purchase more

The main reason we bought this was so I could water my lettuce. I use a wheelchair and our hose is in back of the house. Our downspout is on the edge of the house, right by my raised beds. With this rain barrel, I am able to easily water daily. I also plan to purchase another one for a friend. The plastic spigot and the hose connector broke in the first year, but we bought metal replacement parts from a hardware store and they are working just fine.

I am an urban farmer and rely on rainwater to feed my vegetables. This increases my ability to save rainwater I need.

Attractive rain barrel
from Elkhart IN
I first purchased in 2009 because it looked like terra cotta and is so attractive. Loved it but after 8 yrs the spigot went bad and needed to use the hose so decided to replace with the exact same rain barrel. Love the look and convenience of this rain barrel. Hope this one lasts as long as the first one or longer. Only thing I don't like is the top 1/2 has section that accumulates water so I drilled three holes for water to fall in barrel. I would prefer the entire top with removable screen (like 1/2 currently is) and able to open to clean if necessary.

Love my rain urn. Makes watering potted plants a breeze.
I would buy this rain barrel again.
from San Antonio, Texas
I bought this rain barrel to replace another type of boxy rain barrel that leaked badly. I'm very happy with this new rain barrel. It fits nicely under my existing drain pipe. It works well and looks great.
This item could use a little re-thinking
from Rolla, Mo
This is a smaller version of the larger rain barrel that works well. The challenge is the hose connection in the front, which would be better off somewhere else. The hose also needs a hardier S hook to hold it to the side.
