Additional Information

Exclusive | Italian Trough Planter Creates a Lush Terrace Garden

  • Generous Capacity: You'll get extra soil capacity and deep reservoirs not found in their American counterparts. Trough Planter holds 130 quarts of soil and 4 gallons of water.
  • Unmatched Quality: Rigid construction fends off scuffs and scratches, and they won't fade or bow in the strongest sun or under the heaviest load.
  • Self-Watering: Water only once a week, thanks to a dual-action system that uses cotton wick and evaporation
  • Timeless Design: Crisp lines and realistic wood grain, plus a choice of two classic finials, make for a sharp, uniform appearance around your property
  • We recommend seven 20-quart bags of our premium Organic Self-Watering Potting Mix; each of these planters holds 130 quarts

Our exclusive Italian Terrazza planters offer classic styling with self-watering convenience. In Italy, where style is everything, these innovative planters beautify residential terraces, side-street cafes, hotel lobbies and public courtyards. This large-capacity Terrazza Trough Planter is often the centerpiece. Make the planter mobile with optional casters, sold separately (each planter requires two sets).

I am very satisfied with this product's quality and design

I purchased the trough and two square planters. I use them together to dress up the driveway in front of the house. Very pleased with them.

A great purchase!

We have a small patio yard with limited planting area. I purchased 2 of these planters so I could have a vegetable garden. They are easy to assemble, well made, and look great on my patio. That they are self watering is a bonus. The height also makes them easy to access. I'm looking forward to enjoying them for a long time.

I would have bought this product several times

I first bought this product years ago. Ten years old abc I still love it. I tried other companies over the years and products were sub-par. This product set the bar for quality, long lasting, beauty and ease of assembly. I'll be buying more. I do kiss the chocolate brown color; but bronze is appealing to me. The white ones I have purchased have always stated white; never yellowed. Great product!

Really difficult to assemble & suggested casters don't fit

This planter is fine. It doesn't look as sturdy as I expected, and looks a bit cheap for the price. I hope it will make up in durability what it lacks in appearance. It's a total nightmare to assemble, though, and I'm very good at assembling stuff. I ordered the suggested casters to go with it, and they don't fit, nor did they come with any means of adapting them or any attachments to make them fit, so I guess I can't use them. Also, I paid for expedited shipping, and this still took nearly a week. This will be my last order from Gardners Supply.

Wonderful product

I was skeptical about purchasing a planter for this kind of money and then not being happy with the product, so I started with one of the large square planters and used this for a small herb garden. It was so nice looking and the ease of adding the water to the reservoir and not having to be so concerned about missing a scheduled day of watering; made this without a doubt worth the money. I then purchased 4 of the smaller square planters for flowers and have now purchased 4 of the larger trough planters which i intend to use for Lettuce, spinach, radishes and asparagus. Absolutely love this product and would not buy anything else.

Overall a good product

I have purchased two sets of these planters at two different times and while overall they are good products that I clearly continue to buy, there are a few issues. First the good: I like the way these look and function. They are clean, contemporary looking and a great size and depth for patio gardening. The option for castors is nice, though I haven't spent the extra $ to get any yet. Given the cost and longevity of standard plastic planters, these are still worth purchasing. I can fit two tomato plants and herbs in one planter so it's two standard planters in one, plus the bonus watering feature, which is a must have. The issues: in the two times I've ordered these they have arrived with multiple broken pieces even though the boxes were in tact and interior wrapping uncompromised. That said, Gardeners sent me replacement parts immediately to remedy this problem, which says a lot about the company. The exterior parts have seemed to held up to two full years of New England weather without signs of wear, and i expect another few years easily. But the tube to the water reservoir has not fared as well. The plastic on these has cracked and broken so I have a partly functioning tube now. I don't think it will be a problem yet, but further deterioration will be. And minor in the overall picture, these aren't a breeze to put together. If you are making multiple you'll get into a rhythm, but man that first one is hard to put together. A tip: when snapping in the edges around the top of the reservoir, start at the center of the long sides. This keeps everything balanced and makes this step much easier. I spent a lot of time wrestling with this step when I started at a corner or end because the final piece couldn't easily snap in.

Nice Planters

The planters are put together and filled with dirt. Just waiting for warmer weather to begin planting.

Would buy again

Large planter

Love this for deck gardening; reservoir is wonderful. Have purchased before

Lake lass

Great planter but needs 1 improvement

The plastic levaling feet that screw into the bottom are not strong enough for a dirt filled planter. They should be threaded metal, not plastic.
