The secret to growing stocky, vigorous seedlings that thrive when transplanted outdoors is a strong root mass. The tapered cells of these trays are 50% deeper than similar seed trays which means more room for root mass. This unbreakable tray is designed for using on the reservoir base of our Deep-Root Seedstarting System.

I wish these came in different sizes. A tray with smaller cells would be great.

Durable & strong

I was looking for a dishwasher safe option for seedlings in my greenhouse and indoor space. I really do like these containers, but I was expecting a different material - something a bit less rigid.

My favorite seed starting cells
By Diane Porter
from Fairfield, iowa
I have used many seed starting cells, and this set is my absolute favorite. Plants build nice root balls that hold together beautifully when I remove them from the cells. The hole in the bottom is big enough to stick my finger in and push the plant out. The plastic material holds up well outdoors. I have some I've been using for three gardening seasons, and they've not crumbled or cracked.
I love these trays.

These work great for transferring from starter flats. I can use them with my grow system indoors and plants have enough room to grow until time to plant in the ground.
Sturdy and reusable

I use this indoors and/or in my greenhouse to start plants ahead of the time that weather permits planting in the garden. This gives me a jump on the growing season so that I can harvest earlier. I like very much that the seed-starting trays are sturdy and that they can be cleaned and reused, as opposed to many flimsy trays that are available at most stores.

I've used these for starting small seeds and cloning my geraniums. Beautifully made, perfect depth for root development, easy to transplant from. I can use these again and again, very durable and flexible.
Great for starting seeds and growing seedlings!
About Me Getting Started
I have about 10 of these trays...I use them until the seedlings need to be transferred, which in some cases may be a month or so. Very sturdy. I am just figuring out that these seem to retain water longer than the flimsier trays, so I need to water less often; maybe they hold more water when I water them compared to cheaper trays. I rotate the 15-cell trays through the deep-root starting system also by Gardener's Supply, so it's nice to have a few extra trays on hand. Will be easy to clean for reuse.

I used these trays to start my cabbages, broccoli, Brussels, and peppers this week. The tray fits nicely on my grow rack. The trays are sturdy and easy to move when rotating trays under grow lights.

Large cell size is great. Hoping this will help to to avoid need for potting-up prior to transplant.
