Root veggies like carrots and beets will stay fresh all winter and even grow sweeter in this storage bin. Just fill with layers of damp sand or sawdust, alternating with layers of carrots or beets, and put in a cool, dark place. Potatoes, turnips and squash can go right in the bin without sand.

It took just a few minutes to put together and it looks great! Here in Tennessee I can leave root vegetables in the ground all winter if I so choose. However, I have dug a few of my carrots to try out my wonderful new root cellar and have put it into a dark closet on the coldest corner of my house.
Exactly what I needed
from Lowell, MA
Super easy to put together- took less than 10 minutes. Light weight but durable. Exactly what I need to make a "cold" storage area in my basement.

The Jury is still out...
The basic job of this storage bin is to keep my potatoes and onions fresher longer. It's too early to know if that's happening. The materials seem high quality, but know that you have to assemble the thing upon arrival. The only negative I see so far is that the jute liners don't attach to the metal bin, but instead are just set IN the bin. They flop around a bit. I will have to fashion some sort of ties to keep them in place.

These storage bins are great. They are easy to assemble, and made of quality materials. I am looking forward to having carrots and beets for months! The only con is that there was no elf included to fill the bin - I had to do that myself....
Phenomenal root bin!

What a clever product! I put it together right away with tremendous ease! No more root vegetables going soft or growing eyes! This product is a phenomenal way to save money. I also love that additional burlap bags could be purchased. Happy to have found your site!

So far, so good
from Glenmont, NY
Purchased the root storage box last month and immediately began filling with carrots and parsnips. I'm using damp sand between the rows and find that within a few days the sand has dried out. I have spritzed the top of the sand with water and have to hope that this is sufficient. The box is a little bit small for parsnips but carrots fit fine as would beetroot, turnips and rutabagas.
