At 29" high, this attractive cedar planter is the perfect height for easy growing, eliminating the need to stoop, bend, kneel and reach. It's a generous 10" deep so you can grow big plants like tomatoes and root crops like carrots. With 16 square feet of growing space, there's plenty of room for multiple crops, yielding a generous harvest. Set up one or more of these rectangular beds around the edge of your patio to create a convenient kitchen garden, or fill them with flowers for a stunning display. Like our other cedar raised beds, the sides are held in place with our sleek and sturdy aluminum corners. There's a false floor made of cedar slats, set 10" down from the top so there's plenty of root space for vegetables and flowers. Excess water drains through slats; vents in the sides allow air to circulate and excess moisture to evaporate.

We were very impressed with the quality and ease of assembly. The Cedar Garden Oil was easy to apply and had a pleasant citrus aroma for a short while. We were so impressed we ordered a 2x4 version as well.

Perfect for those with back issues!
By Retired Teacher

After many years living in an apartment, I am now in a home and have a chance to have a garden. Now that I am older, I have some back issues that keep me from bending over a lot. This planter is ideal since I can plant and tend a garden without aggravating my back.

Set-up directions were clear. I filled the box with the recommended potting mix, and think every seed I planted actually germinated. This never happens in my ground beds. I had fabulous early crops (radishes, lettuce, spinach, etc). Larger plants such as tomato and cucumber have not fared as well. Beans and herbs have been okay. Next year I'll plant more compact varieties of the big stuff. I'm about to try a fall spinach crop, which has never worked for me. But I'm hopeful! All in all I'm really pleased with how productive and pest-free this garden has been. Down sides? It's pretty expensive, and the boards are weathering faster than I had hoped they wood despite two coats of protective oil. But I bought a second one on sale anyway.
A Sturdy, Handsome Planter

Now that the planter is constructed and in use, I am very pleased with it. I was a little less pleased when I was putting it together. The instructions and the on-line video are good. However, the kit needs pre-drilled holes. I went through several drill bits and wrecked a number of screws as I assembled it. The cedar knots are tough!
This is the 2nd one we've bought.

The height of the planter box is great. I like not having to get down on the ground to pick the vegetables. It was not too difficult to put together. We decided to buy another one.

Badly-Aligned Screw Holes, Wood Planks Began Cracking
By Jeff in AZ
from Phoenix AZ
As soon as we began assembling our two planters it became apparent that we would have to re-drill several of the screw holes in the aluminum pieces. We had to buy titanium drill bits to make that happen. Once we finished assembly we placed the planters (empty) in the back yard and one of them began exhibiting cracked wood near the screw holes in the top of planter. We're really hoping these things don't self-destruct now that I've begun to fill them and plant in earnest.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
