Makes it very easy to start seeds
from Northern KY
Comments about : Organic GrowEase Seed Starting Success Kit:
I really like this setup for starting seeds. The wicking method means you don't have to lug big jugs of water around and dump water once seedlings have been bottom-watered. The only thing I'd want is a larger size. Otherwise it's great!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Beginner at starting seeds indoors and this made it easy!
from Washington, DC
The product is great in every respect, including everything you need to get started. The self-watering trays and mats are especially useful.
Easy, all in one kit!

I'm so happy I bought this kit. I've always started my seeds on my own with my own soil mixture and trays but I thought I'd give this a try because the trays fit perfectly into the 2 tier Sunlight Garden I also purchased. The tray system is perfect for keeping the seeds well watered, the plant markers were a nice added bonus and the seed starting mix smells great so I now my seeds will love it. The instructions were easy to follow and I'm excited to see how well the seedlings do.
Seed Starting a breeze!
This is a nice set up to begin starting your seeds with.

Sturdy but difficult to remove plants
from Sarasota, FL
I like this system. It's nice that it's not flimsy and disposable. However, the cells are very rigid and it is extremely difficult to remove the young plants once it is time for transplanting, especially from the cells in the center. Does anyone have tips on making that process easier? I find the 12 cell kits a little easier for removing the mature seedlings.

Sturdy, easy to start and water, but not easy to reuse
By Dean the Bear
from Chicago, IL
I got several sets of these in order to be able to re-use them year after year, and started tomato, pepper, celery, cauliflower, broccoli, and cabbage in them. They're sturdy, easy to use under grow lights, easy to keep from over- or under-watering, and the covers conserve humidity. The problems come when you're ready to pop out your seedlings for transplant into your garden--the support that the wick sits on is supposed to be used to push seedlings out of the cups from the bottom, and the posts on the support do not penetrate into the cup bottoms far enough to do that. And since the cups themselves are that sturdy rigid plastic, you can't compress them to loosen the rootballs for removal, either. I wound up having to use a thin-bladed knife to loosen the rootballs and still had to literally dig the seedlings out for transplant, one at a time, damaging the rootballs and leaving a lot of starting soil in the cups--it just doesn't come out very easy. Although I'm not optimistic that they'll even fit in, the next time I will try to put peat pots into the individual starter cups/cells and then fill them with starter soil. If they don't fit in, then I'll have to dispose of the "re-useable" plastic cups/cells and use the peat pots by themselves. The entire system is mostly useless and a waste of money if you can't easily get your seedlings out of it for transplanting without damaging them.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Low Success For Me
By Farmer Mel
Purchased this kit and used the grow mix included and after three weeks, out of 48 cells, I have about 10 cells that are germinated and growing. I have them under the gardeners grow light system as well. Seeds that I planted with Espoma Organic seed starting mix is growing better in the other seed starting kit that I purchased.

Not worth the money!
By Camera Man
from New Jersey
I got very poor germination, about 10%, bought a kit from local store for one third the price and got 75% germination under same conditions. Used Gardners seed in there kit and Burpee seed in store kit.
