The openings on the cage surrounding this polycarbonate tube feeder are just the right size for finches, nuthatches and other small birds, but keep out jays and other feeder bullies. The latching top stays firmly in place to help keep gray squirrels out of your birdseed, and drainage holes at the bottom keep seed dry and fresh.

Don't like the new design
By Chipmunk chaser
Comments about : Mixed Seed Globe Cage Feeder:
We have used previous design with the mesh tube for years and need to replace due to squirrel damage. Don't like the plastic tube because I can see the chipmunks and squirrels chewing holes in the plastic. It took them a couple of years to destroy the metal tube - plastic won't be any challenge for them!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I'm going to use these in a courtyard garden over the winter. Very attractive. I haven't used them yet so don't know if small rodents will be able to get at them but I like that only small birds can feed on this. The packaging was very damaged when I received them. Boxes dented and strapping hanging off. Feeders were okay but I'm surprised they weren't damaged.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Chickadees are swarming my feeder it's a great design. Easy to fill.
I would recommend this product to any bird lover.

To keep the squirrels from getting in the feeder. They are smart but have not found a way to get in this feeder.

This feeder will add to my "bird tree"where the birds gather to feed. We have a lot of small birds so this will be great for them.
Great for smaller birds

My larger birds try to domonate the bigger feeder so this is perfect and allows them protection from harassment by e bigger birds!

Lid won't stay on
from Philadelphia PA
I used this feeder for a couple of months and found that squirrels can easily take the lid off. I tried using twist ties to keep it on but they would eventually brake. Also the chain that keeps the lid attached finally broke off too. The final straw was when a woodpecker got stuck inside because a squirrel had taken the lid off when I was not home. I told Gardener supply about it and they did refund my money. I told them they should stop carrying this product and was disappointed to see that not only do they still carry it but they are using it in a promo email. That is what made me leave this review.
Love watching our little visitors!
Enjoying a flurry of activity with visits from chickadees, finches, sparrows, titmice and other small birds. Cardinals and blue jays can't fit through the holes; however, chipmunks can and frequently wipe out large quantities of bird seed. Clever squirrels occasionally swing it from side to side, causing some seed to fall out. Raccoons are smart enough to open the lid, but a little tape around the edge put a stop to that. Overall, very pleased. In the future, will hang it where the chipmunks can't reach it.

It's a beautiful feeder and perfect for small birds. The squirrels can't get in and neither can the Cardinals or Jays.
well made, looks good

As advertised, the grate manages to keep squirrels from getting all the birdseed. Chipmunks are still able to access the seed, so I still need to find a way of hanging the feeder high enough off the ground to keep them out.
