The openings on the cage surrounding this polycarbonate tube feeder are just the right size for finches, nuthatches and other small birds, but keep out jays and other feeder bullies. The latching top stays firmly in place to help keep gray squirrels out of your birdseed, and drainage holes at the bottom keep seed dry and fresh.

Lid won't stay on
from Philadelphia PA
Comments about : Mixed Seed Globe Cage Feeder:
I used this feeder for a couple of months and found that squirrels can easily take the lid off. I tried using twist ties to keep it on but they would eventually brake. Also the chain that keeps the lid attached finally broke off too. The final straw was when a woodpecker got stuck inside because a squirrel had taken the lid off when I was not home. I told Gardener supply about it and they did refund my money. I told them they should stop carrying this product and was disappointed to see that not only do they still carry it but they are using it in a promo email. That is what made me leave this review.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Love watching our little visitors!
Enjoying a flurry of activity with visits from chickadees, finches, sparrows, titmice and other small birds. Cardinals and blue jays can't fit through the holes; however, chipmunks can and frequently wipe out large quantities of bird seed. Clever squirrels occasionally swing it from side to side, causing some seed to fall out. Raccoons are smart enough to open the lid, but a little tape around the edge put a stop to that. Overall, very pleased. In the future, will hang it where the chipmunks can't reach it.

It's a beautiful feeder and perfect for small birds. The squirrels can't get in and neither can the Cardinals or Jays.
well made, looks good
By fighting the critters
from St. Paul, MN
As advertised, the grate manages to keep squirrels from getting all the birdseed. Chipmunks are still able to access the seed, so I still need to find a way of hanging the feeder high enough off the ground to keep them out.
best bird feeder for my little friends

help to keep large birds and squirrels from the food
I want another!
from Charlottesville, VA
Love this squirrel-proof feeder. My birdseed is lasting longer and the birds are staying around the yard longer for my viewing pleasure.
I would buy this product again
from Columbia City, OR
This feeder accomplished what I wanted, to keep starlings, blackbirds, blue jays out of the feeder. It took a 2 or 3 days before the small songbirds figured out how to negotiate the entry.I would like for the feeder to have had a couple more feeding stations.
Difficult to clean
from Palos Heights, IL
It's nice that squirrels can't get at the seed, but seed gets stuck in the bottom of the tube. The only way to clean it out is to take the bottom off with a screw driver. It's a pain and if you don't clean it out, the seed starts growing or gets moldy.
Great bird feeder
from Weymouth, MA
This bird feeder attracts so many birds but prevents squirrels from getting at the food, which is a huge plus.
Globe cage feeder
from Charleston, SC
Squirrels don't usually get inside cage but some have as well as hanging onto side and eating seeds in bottom of feeder
