Effective and EZ to set up
from Richmond, VA
I have four free-range chickens and they love to eat bugs, but they also like to eat young plants and scratch up holes in the soil looking for bugs and dust baths. I bought two of these fences to see if they would work to save my garden. They are so easy to set up. The fence is about two feet high - good for chickens, not deer obviously. A person has no trouble stepping over it to access the plants inside. Just set up the stakes approximately where you want them and bang them lightly into the ground with a mallet, rock or whatever you've got. Unroll the green, flexible fence. Use the snap on clips to affix the fence to the stakes. If you have a bit of slack, pull a stake out and reposition. You don't even need to unclip the fence. The clips can attach two fence lengths together to make one big fenced enclosure. After two weeks, the chickens haven't touched the flowers I just planted within the fence. The stakes are still standing. The dog isn't peeing on my flowers either. I'm happy.

Wish I had purchased this at the beginning of the season. It will definitely help next year.

Using the stakes and netting to keep out small animals from my veggie garden. Stakes are sturdy and netting appears to be strong. Easy to use and to handle. Haven't used the system long enough yet to determine how it endures long time use.

Did not even remove from shipping carton, sent straight back to GSC.The mesh material is more like a heavy netting, and the color is even lighter than in the item description photo. It is barely 25" high, and would be less with sagging between the posts. It did not look like it was going to hold up for very long, not worth the effort of putting it up.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This fence is actually only 23" tall even when stretched taut not the 25" as listed. 2 inches may not seem like much but every inch counts. It is easy to install but probably won't keep much of anything out, might keep the short dogs at bay, but squirrels, cats, rabbits and anything with agility will jump the fence so don't bother.

I bought 3 of these pest fences, one for each raised garden bed to keep rabbits out. The salesman suggested I also buy the garlic stakes for added protection so I did. We put the fence around each bed and put a garlic stake at each corner and one in the middle of 8 ft. long section - the rabbits have eaten through every single one of them, right where the garlic stakes are. This was a huge waste of money!!!

Note enough posts
from Berryville, AR
So far so go with this fence. You need to order 2 fences in order to have enough posts for 1 fence. And I didn't even use the entire fence, so I'm not sure how you would ever get the entire thing to stay up with what is provided in 1 set. But if you can find fat, coated rebar that the clips will fit on you could always use those instead of buying the second set.

Low Pest Fence
By Former Burlingtonian
from Pittsburgh, PA
I bought this product from a previous catalog at a much higher price. There was only one negative comment and many positive ones. We are using the fences to keep pests away from ornamentals at the front ends of our home. The problem is the mesh stretches and folds over between the posts which are six feet apart. Snow collects on the folded material and it sags even more causing a very unsightly condition. Come Spring I'm going to ship the product back to Vermont. Additionally, there weren't any instructions. I see those are included now. Lastly, the poles should be at least six inches longer than the width of the mesh. I'm a big fan of Gardeners Supply but this product is an embarrassment!
