Years ago, people stored "keeper" crops such as apples, winter squash, onions and potatoes on rustic wooden racks like this one. The drawers are slatted to ensure good air circulation, and they slide out for easy access. For best results, the rack should be located in a cool, dark cellar or shed.

Comments about : Orchard Rack, 6 Drawer:
I have a "cold house" similar to a root cellar and it is just what I was looking for to hold fruit, until I have a minute to get it canned.

Nice product, works well

I'm using the product to store garlic, onions and potatoes. It was straightforward to put together. My only complaint is a strong smell; this went away after I aired it out for a few days though.

Oh my goodness, this is the BEST! For years and years I have cobbled together storage for my potatoes, onions and squash. This is a lovely unit that smells like fresh wood. The shelves are spacious and slide in and out easily. I have enough room to dry herbs as well. For a cook and a gardener, this is an absolutely wonderful product. I hesitated for a very long time before making this purchase and my only regret is that I did not buy it years ago.
This is a common sense product for fresh food storage.

This will be great for storing our vegetables!
from Taylors, SC
I had been wanting this for a couple of years and finally bit the bullet. I love it! It seems sturdy and well made and I can't wait to start loading it up with fresh veggies. This will help corral the mess in my kitchen when the garden starts coming in. One note....one of the cross pieces was broken in half when we received it, but my husband was able to put it back together and you can't even tell it was broken. It will not be in a place where it will take abuse....so it's fine.
the six drawers are great for storing fruits and vegggies

LOVE these orchard racks! Ordered two for my root cellar/basement - placed them 2 feet apart and added a butcher block top. End result is a spectacular work space and storage for all of the potatos, onions, shallots, garlic, sweet potatos, squash etc. that we get from our CSA. LOVE THEM!
Love this orchard rack!

About Me Casual Cook
Our tomato plants were late producing but finally did an outstanding job. Just before the frost, we picked many green to half ripe tomatoes & put them in the orchard storage rack. We have enjoyed ripe tomatoes & will for several weeks as the rack has been just what we needed to ripen our large crop of tomatoes. The rack was full & each day we sort our tomatoes.
so handy to have
