Ground-feeding birds need access to water in winter as much as in summer. In addition to drinking, birds use water for their frequent grooming, otherwise, their feathers can’t insulate against winter’s cold. This plug-in steel birdbath has an efficient, 75-watt heater with a thermostatic control that heats only when necessary and keeps water from freezing at temperatures as low as -10°F. Four feet provide stability.

The birds love this bird bath! When my other bird baths are frozen over, there will be 6+ birds sitting around the edge of this bird bath.

We have this on our deck so we can enjoy watching the birds (and squirrels). Today there was a flock of bluebirds sitting around the rim! We taped the extension cord connector to make it waterproof.

Within 20 minutes of putting this heated birdbath out there were visitors using it. Sometimes 3 or 4 birds sitting on the edge drinking and another may be splashing in it. The squirrels drink from it too. It is near my bird feeder so the area is a pleasure to watch with so much activity. Just tip to empty and refill with a pitcher of clean water. Easy!
Good way to help the birdies get water during the winter

We just set this up a few weeks ago, because it's been so warm, We did use a plastic waterproof connector since we needed an extension cord.

birds and squirrels love it!

Even during the snow storms; a crust of ice can form around the edge if filled too high, but there's water there for the birds and squirrels. Watching them bath in it is a joy to watch. But then I need to clean.

About Me High-end Shopper
Second birdbath I've purchased from GS. Actually use it on their higher stand version because original didn't work about several years. Birds, squirrels love it in the winter, we take it in once Spring arrives to preserve electrical connection. Dish part should be deeper however - on a sunny day even in 10 degree weather you must make sure water doesn't evaporate. Water has never frozen no matter how cold temperatures drop.
birds use it
from cape cod
When I first set the birdbath out we were having mild weather and only a brave chickadee came to it. Now that it is well below freezing each night the birds are coming to it. All the birds who come to my yard use it, including the woodpeckers. The other day there were ten robins sitting around the rim - it looked like they were having a board meeting.
Beautiful and functional
Birdbath is great size and nice color. Larger diameter and more shallow than our previous one, but invites more birds at a time. Need to refill pretty much every day, but don't mind that. Have had it out in chicago weather for a few months now and seems to work just fine.
