The super-sized Mantis Compost Twin composter has two chambers, so you can let one side "cook" while you continue to add scraps and yard waste to the other side. It holds a total of almost 25 cubic feet of raw material — that's 10 bushels (almost three 30-gallon trash bags) in each chamber! Super-sturdy construction and smart features make this compost bin easy to use and highly efficient at making the highest quality compost. Strategically placed vents allow oxygen into the chamber and assure even airflow and proper drainage, both critical for effective composting. Interior fins help mix and aerate the material as you rotate the drum. The enclosed bins keep out rodents, pets and wildlife. The ComposT-Twin is more attractive than unsightly compost piles, and the enclosed drums and efficient composting process eliminate composting odors, keeping neighbors happy. The ComposT-Twin's frame is 32" high, making it convenient to load and unload. The easy-crank handle and gear mechanisms make the drum simple to turn, even when it's fully loaded.

Comments about : Compost Twin:
I have had this composter for over ten years and no one mentions in prior reviews that the rats have not gotten in this bin.... and that is important as the buggers are everywhere. New fences this year required moving this bin and I told my daughter that I wanted to be very nice to this composter as I did not want to have to buy another and for kitchen waste it would be needed. By the way, I have five other open bins for yard waste composting.

Years of experience

After 8 years use in New England, the body of one cylinder rusted around one of the latches. I was able to patch it with a piece of galvanized metal and rivets and got another year and half out of it before the rust took over. It's hard to keep it dry inside, not that you'd want to.Other than that, the functionality is very good. I will replace it with something cheaper and probably plastic.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We are most pleased to finally get this terrific composter. For the most part everything is great but for assembly. Either by maker's fault of my assembly mistakes the center wall needed a bit of a tab cut away on both sides for the whole thing to assemble. Other than that it was perfect. Being a carpenter I had the right tool for the job. But it may be difficult for the everyday person. Excellent product.

The latches on the doors were the big problem after a few years. Presently one side I cannot open without using another tool to pry it open without hurting my hands/fingers. The other side, 2 years after the first became a problem, the latch lost one of its rivets (?) and is held on by one and is threatening to fall off, yet I can still use it. I'm on here trying to find these latches to buy; no luck yet; hubby says we'll look in hardware store.Re: the plastic wheels, as long as you lube them, all is well!

Dual Composter is Awesome!
By The Prickly Prunner

Have added twigs, household scraps, cow manure. Can hardly wait for our own compost to make as it is mid-winter. Usually purchase compost bi-annually. Will not need to purchase compost again. Plan to use it in my vegetable garden, in flowers beds, and also around the trees. Will also lightly cover my wildflower area annually with a light covering of compost.
