Plants thrive in these award-winning biodegradable transplant pots. Cowpots™ are the patent-pending invention of Matt and Ben Freund, two Connecticut dairy farmers who were looking for an environmentally responsible way to dispose of cow manure. The manure is dried, completely composted, mixed with natural fibers, and pressed into pots. Gardeners love Cowpots because they are odorless and free of weed seeds. Plants love Cowpots too, because transplant shock is greatly reduced. Best of all, Cowpots are 100% biodegradable. They last for months in the greenhouse or windowsill, but will dissolve within weeks after planting in the garden, providing essential organic nutrients. We are very excited about Cowpots, and recommend them to any gardener who wants to increase plant health and reduce waste.

These are great little pots. My seeds started so much faster. I did a side by side test with other seed starters and these outperformed all. Some of the other pots never germinated.
Yes, I would buy this product again!

These are wonderful because I can plant my seedlings without running the risk of transplant shock.
Great seed starters
from Fletcher, VT
The cowpots are great. Start seeds in them and when you're ready to plant the whole pot goes right in the ground. It breaks down into fertilizer for your plants. They have a slight smell when first opened but it goes away in just a few minutes. The only thing to be careful of is over watering them. Too much water can cause them to mold a bit.

Great for seedlings
I start my tomatoes in seed trays, then transfer them to CowPots when they are large enough. These decompose better than peat pots (you don' t have to "peel" off the bottom or rip the sides) and give the plants a little fertilizer at the same time. Great purchase.
I have bought cowpots for the last three springs

Transplanting is more successful when one simply places pot and plant into planting hole.
