Love this bird house!

Comments about : Urban Birdhouse:
I just bought it so nothing has nested in it yet. I'm looking forward to how easy it's going to be to clean it!

I was thoroughly pleased when this item arrived . The weight of the house is excellent. I have a lot of wind (average of 20 mph all year) and some other birdhouses that I have tried have actually been blown down. This one will be able to withstand the wind and protect my songbirds. After I deciphered the sliding clean out, I was especially pleased!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Building a birdhouse community on a large tree stump. Wanted a updated style to hang among traditional models. This one is easy to clean and looks great.
I would but this item again.

Hole is not 1 1/8 inch. It is 1 1/4 inch. Misleading info
Wrong info. I bought this for the hole protector and you get to select how big the hole is. If I wanted 1 1/4 inch protector I would have chosen that option. I chose 1 1/8 inch and they still sent me 1 1/4. Houses not nailed together , they are glued. What you are really paying for is the case the house sits in.

Major design flaw
from Wilmington, nc
I previously reviewed this and was super pumped on our nesting chickadees. I am recently very disappointed that a raccoon was able to pull the box out of the concrete diamond and stick his grimy paws in the box and pull out all the nesting material and murder one of the chickadees. (I found her wings) when I put the box back in its casing the other bird came looking for his mate immediately and sang the saddest song. I feel like I set these sweet birds up for failure by letting this happen, despite my meticulous and thoughtful box placement to avoid predators. I was devastated by this

So far so good

Hung as a diamond in February and have chickadees nesting in April. Looks great and seems well constructed. Love it.

Attractive, easy to clean

This box is the right size for warblers, but they prefer a flat bottom for nest building. There are two holes in back for hooks--use the one that hangs it horizontally.

Entry hole is actually 1-1/4"!
By Salsa lover
The entry hole is not 1-1/8" as described, it's actually 1-1/4". In other words, it lets in invasive house sparrows. I had to replace the included steel plate with a 1-1/8" copper plate from a birding place.Other than that, it's very nice--solidly constructed and looks good, too. In case anyone was wondering, it does have ventilation/drainage holes, as a birdhouse should. Another plus is that you can mount it with the opening to one side ("as a square," as the description put it) to make it attractive to chickadees.Since the "actually 1-1/8 inch" copper plates aren't very expensive, I'd say this birdhouse is worth the price.
