This works very well on string algae

This product has never failed to rid my pond's stream of string algae. It is very easy to use. I found that storing it inside my house, rather than my garden shed, kept the solution from turning dark brown.
Clean and clear

We've been using this in our garden pond for several years now. When we don't we get green thready slime! But with it our water remains clear and water plants are still healthy, so I feel confident it isn't harmful. Easy to use, with the results we want!
Environmentally safe for our large pond

About Me Midrange Shopper
We've used the barley straw liquid for our large natural pond for many years. We start using the liquid early in the season and even though we still get some algae (depending on the amount of sunlight each day) we do think it is less than without the liquid. We would never use anything that would harm our frogs or wildlife, so the barley straw liquid is perfect.
I purchased this at the recommendation of Gardeners and used it in our fountain and rain barrels - it did not work. I had to take the fountain apart about every 2 weeks to clean all the algae out of all the part and the rain barrels the water was scummy and smelly. I followed the directions that were on the bottle, so based on all the other reviews I must have done something wrong. Still looking for a solution to the water in the rain barrels. We recently moved so the fountain has not been set up yet, and maybe it won't be until a solution is found.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This is so easy to use, just follow the schedule and maintain every 2 weeks. It works as well as more complicated treatments we've tried.

works great in our water feature
from Denver, CO
like that it is organic
We have a natural very large pond and algae is always a problem. We only use environmentally friendly products that will not harm our frogs and wildlife that drink from the pond. We have had barley straw balls and other ecological products in the pond in previous years, but this will be the first year to use the liquid prior to the algae blooms. I still am giving the product 5 stars even though we haven't seen the final results yet because I do know from others with small ponds that it does work.

Keep algae from building up in my water feature. We have used it for 1 month so far and it has been a success. I like the fact that it is not toxic to birds or other wild life, which most products are. This is the first summer we have not had a totally slimmed water fall.
