This versatile self-watering planter grows healthy plants with less work. Fill with flowers or herbs and place it on your deck or tabletop for an eye-catching accent. Or hang it from a wall or railing with Lechuza® Window Box Brackets, sold separately. This basketweave-textured planter coordinates with other Lechuza Cottage Wicker styles. Two removable liners slip into the outer pot for tidy planting and care.
This all-in-one planter includes a specially formulated granular material, called Lechuza PON, that's made from nutrient-enriched pumice, zeolites and lava. The clean, attractive material wicks water up from the built-in reservoir, aerates the roots and provides your plant with nutrition. A layer of Lechuza PON spread over the reservoir wicks water to the potting mix around your plant’s roots.
The water reservoir releases moisture as your plants need it and lets you water less often. A built-in water-level indicator tells you when it’s time to add more water. The stylish outer pot is watertight so you can place it directly on furniture without worrying about leaks. Inside, a matching liner easily lifts out, making it easy to change plants, repot, trim roots and rinse leaves. For outdoor use, there's a removable drainage plug on the bottom of the pot. From the makers of classic Playmobile® toys, award-winning Lechuza planters are crafted in Germany from durable, shatterproof, UV-safe plastic.
This all-in-one planter includes the planter, liner, water-level indicator and Lechuza PON.

Comments about : Balconera Cottage Wicker Self-Watering Window Box, 31":
The containers are on a very hot sunny wall. The water level works great so we know when to water. They hold a decent amount of soil for good root health. The quality is excellent.

Pictures don't do justice. I purchased a 20 & 31 inch planter. They are well made with an innovative design. On sale they were an exceptional value. I have seen other planters that cost more then the Balconera's regular price and are nowhere near the beauty and functional design. buy with confidence! alsoGardener's Supply are the best.
A balcony railing gem
from Bend, OR
Very well-conceived and constructed. There are two independent boxes within the planter, both with a pair of handles on each end to, for example, allow starting seed of trailing geranium and petunia (much cheaper than buying plants of these container versions of the flowers) in the boxes and when danger of frost has passed, placement outside into the balcony-attached unit. This is great for relatively short season areas such as this area of the eastern Cascades in Oregon. Also, if there is a late frost or a need to be away in the summer for any extended period, the inserts can be removed and placed out of the cold or watered by neighbors, respectively. The self-watering feature includes a fairly large reservoir and a water level indicator, so watering intervals can be extended more than needing to water daily.
Out of the box

So far I am loving these. Would like to have the foot attachment offered in the Lechuza catalog.
Elegant plastic wicker
from Baton Rouge
I put three of them on my wrought iron balcony. They look elegant, and reflect the careful and precise manufacture for which Germany is known. My only quibble is that the plastic inserts that hold the plants are a bit small.
