This all-in-one unit ensures steady supply of water for seedlings. Just keep the reservoir filled and the soil will remain perfectly moist. The APS 24 ensures sturdy, healthy transplants that will thrive in your garden. The insulated growing tray and greenhouse cover trap warmth and moisture to speed germination. The capillary matting and reservoir let seedlings help themselves to water as they need it, even if you're away. Seedlings pop right out of the tray for planting, which prevents root damage and transplant shock. We recommend our Germinating Mix. Replacement Parts are available.

Comments about APS 24:
I purchased several years ago and have no complaints. I just purchased one plus a couple of the new style as a gift. My only wish is that you could order the capillary mat for the older style but they are no longer available and the new style won't work according to the CSR I spoke to.

APS Seed Starting Kits
By Emerald Thumb
from West Chester, PA
I have used the APS systems to start my seeds for many years. It is an excellent system that yields 90+% germination rates. For my purposes as a backyard gardener, I see no reason to change. However, over time, some of the individual components of the system do break down with repeated use. I was disappointed to find that some of the individual components were not available for sale on your website. Is this a temporary out of stock situation or a policy issue that will continue in future years. Thanks
Nothing better than APS!!!

I have used APS units for years. Haven't found anything better for seedstarting. Very disappointed that only one size is now available. Had to leave all my old ones in Germany when we moved back to the USA.
Water Reservoir cracked on first use.
About Me Master Gardener
Water reservoir cracked on first use. Reservoir is the same quality and thickness as the single use pots that commercial greenhouses use for seedlings. Unacceptable, especially considering the price. Good idea poorly executed. Arin at customer service said it should not be used with heating mats although this is not disclosed anywhere in the instructions or product description. Very few of these would be sold if it were described as unsuitable with heating mats.

So easy, and a time saver

About Me Getting Started
It's easy to set up, and once the seeds are planted, I only have to add water to the tray about once a week (unlike my conventional seed-starting trays, where I have to check the soil daily).

Super seed starting kit!
By Barb M.
from Upper Peninsula of Michigan
PLEASE see my full review of the APS units under APS Starter kit--I should have posted it here, but bought the multi-piece kit this year so it came up first & I posted it there. Getting the APS Starter kit with two APS units, marking tags, water level indicator, plant food if you use it, and starting formula all in one kit is great for convenience and offered at a savings over the total prices on the items. If you just want the single unit, without extras, then this is the kit to buy over all other products I've tried. Please do go look up APS Starter Kit--I wrote a detailed review. My favorite seed starter after trying many kits, methods, containers of all sorts, etc. over my 55 years of gardening!
Great Seedling Starter
from Golden, CO
I just started using it. I have a plug starter and my plan was to pot my seedlings up to the APS 24 tray and grow them in that until transplanting. As such, the cells are a little too shallow. If your plan is to just start seeds, then it will be great, but you may need to pot up to deeper pots before transplanting to the garden.
Wonderful for starting primroses
By Primrose lover
from Rhode Island
I use these to sow my primrose seeds. I first saw them years ago when a friend was leaving the RI Spring Flower Show with one. She pointed out its virtues of having a water reservoir plus a plastic cover to hold in moisture as seeds began to grow. I was "sold" and went home with 2 of them. They cost about $5 or $6 then. (Now significantly more). They worked perfectly with primrose seeds, which need moisture, but not too much, and I have used them ever since that time. Because of the price increase, I am now contemplating re-using some of the parts. But this method works for me on my light cart indoors, so I will continue with it.
excellent product, very well thought out
from riverhead, L.I. New York
bottom line is that its a very forgiving way to start nice healthy plants.
