Collecting rainwater just makes sense: It conserves a precious resource and reduces water bills. Plus, plants love chlorine-free rainwater! Our large-capacity Deluxe Rain Barrel has smart features that make it easy and convenient. Four ports let you attach several hoses and link multiple barrels. An overflow outlet diverts excess water away, and there’s a safety grid and removable debris screen on top. It includes a 4' hose with on/off thumb valve that connects to a standard garden hose, and three end caps for the ports you’re not using.

4-Port Desluxe Rain Barrel
from West Chester, PA
Comments about : 4-Port Deluxe Rain Barrel:
Only 1 hose came with the barrel and had to order a couple more for the other ports. Difficulty finding connectors for hoses that worked with the fittings on the barrel. Wound up cutting off brass screw ends and put the drip hose fittings on. Used rain diverter (as used on another barrel) as barrel was bought to keep rain from swamping my lawn and make use of nature's water for garden. It is now filled to the top with rainwater.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Could not understand why there were no covers for all ports.

After the winter we've had, best buy we could have made!
from Yakima, WA
This winter is relentless, dumping snow and, now rain. So our rain barrel has been filled three times with snow melt, and drained three times. Now it is accumulating the occasional rain fall--as it should be.
I use this to disperse my downspout water
from Tehachapi, CA
I have a downspout for my barn gutters that pours out rainwater on to the dirt. I installed a different barrel, but a rut had started to form, because it would overflow during heavy rain. This 4-port barrel scatters the gutter runoff away from the barn, into 4 different directions and waters my trees at the same time.

This rainbarrel seems well built but the design is sort of unusual. The overflow hose inside the barrel doesn't seem very secure and the outlet hose has the on/off thumbswitch on the wrong end. It is on the end near the barrel and is inconvenient. It doesn't fit the other way.

I live in an area plagued with drought so this huge barrel is an awesome way to collect and conserve water. This spring, I found the bottom had cracked on my rain barrel and the company replaced it with a new barrel immediately. The customer service from Gardeners Supply is the best I have ever received from a company. My only complaint would be that some of the plastic components don't stand the test of time. The inner hook area on the lid, for the tube on the inside, cracked immediately. The plastic attachment that is supposed to hold the watering tube on the outside is also pretty fragile. Breaks after a couple of seasons of exposure. Excellent product overall though.

Rain Barrel Problems
from Southwest Virginia
I'm sure it was the way we used it, but we even tried to raise it up a bit on cinderblocks - and that was difficult to do. The screen developed holes. When there was a great deal of rain, water splashed off the top of the screen and hit the siding at the corner of the house where the gutter was - and we're now removing the barrel and replacing the siding at a significant cost.

Alot of money for a slow flow!
By Valley of Gardens
from New Haven County Connecticut
I thought this would be the perfect fix to my lugging watering cans to and from the garden. The only thing that was left out was the fact that if you place the barrel as seen in the magazine...you get very little water flow. The barrel must be raised up in order for gravity to help it along. Felt that that was left out of the advertising for it. Would recommend to a friend with my add on of raising it up.
Merchant response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review of one of our products. I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your 4-Port Deluxe Rain Barrel (#40-201)! While it is true that raising the barrel up will provide better flow there is also a variety of products such as a rain barrel pump or our Rain Barrel Super Siphon (8588589) that will also help increase the water flow. We do offer a 100% guarantee of all of our products, so please call us at 1-800-876-5520 and we'd be happy to assist you in resolving this issue to your satisfaction.

Nice size and features.
from Summerfield NC
This is a very good rain barrel. I have 3 different ones, all from Gardener's Supply, and all 3 have tiny issues. I mean really tiny. This one is handsome, high - capacity, with multiple hose ports. I have it up on cinder blocks to improve the water pressure, and I attached a hose to two ports, while still being able to fill a bucket or watering can from another. The only weird thing is that the screen top frame warped after 1 day in the hot NC sun, and the design of it has a moat that allows water to stand/stagnate around the top rim. I weighted it down with rocks to correct the warping, and found a tree frog sheltering in the water under the rocks one day. Hopefully he'll eat the mosquito larvae in the moat! We do spray for mosquitoes, so it isn't a big issue in my opinion. Just something to consider in the next redesign.
Excellent Watering Assistant
from Mammoth Spring AR
This is the second rain barrel I've purchased from Gardeners and am happy with both. This one is bigger and has more hose hookups, so it is now sitting in the vegetable garden under a small rain runoff lead. Lightweight hoses enable effective watering between rows. So happy to have it. The first one is next to the house, filling from a downspout for watering flowers. Great for gardeners!
