The description in the catalog says the cutting tip is just carbon--NOT a likely strong material. Turns out the local friendly engineer identified the material as "carbon steel", same as the cutting tips on industrial machines. Much better!

I haven't had a chance to do more than try it our, and at that time it did not go deep enough to get doem to the roots of the pesky brick crawling plants

I read reviews that made me pause before ordering this. In the end, GS is so friendly about accepting returns, I thought I'd test it myself. I am so glad that I did. The handle, length of tool, and angle of tool are all excellent for my hand. I will use this all season for weeds and maybe in the snow to gently guide snow and ice off plants that cannot take the weight. Nice job, GS!

Tired of weeding between pavers with my hands (which works but is tedious) I thought this would be the answer to quick work. Back to manual weeding; this tool is largely ineffective and also mostly leaves the weed roots intact.
