Rubber Walkway Goes Down Fast, Lasts for Years

  • Scatter-proof recycled rubber walkway is a long-lasting alternative to loose bark mulch
  • Walkway stays put, holds its shape and cushions your feet
  • Keeps feet clean and dry in muddy areas
  • Choice of Walnut or Redwood

Here's a smart alternative to bark mulch, made from 100% recycled tires. A landscape backing holds the shredded rubber in place, while it also suppresses weed growth. Each 22" by 72" section is easy to install, and the 2" lip of fabric down one side ensures continuous coverage over wider areas. We recommend anchoring the mulch with our Earth Staples, sold separately.

Recycled Rubber
  • 100% recycled rubber with landscape fabric backing
  • Water-permeable
  • 22" W x 6' L x 1/4" thick

          Comments about Recycled Rubber Walkway:

I needed a pathway through my flower bed. I have worked for three summers on making a pathway look nice. When I laid this rubber walkway down, it was the right length, width and, with a few garden staples to hold it in place, is the perfect pathway. Thank you Gardners for another great product!

I pulled two walkways out of their bags and they were falling apart in my hands! Not attached to the flimsy backing except here and there. This is a different product than the walkways I previously purchased. I want my money back but hate to pay return shipping! I would NOT buy this product.

              Comments about Recycled Rubber Walkway:

I bought this to put between my raised bed and the neighbor's fence, which is just about the only place I would use it. It looks much shinier in person, I am hoping that will weather away. NOTE: The backing is NOT landscape fabric, it is plastic and I'm not sure how that makes it permeable at all. I don't remember reading about landscape backing when I ordered it, because when it came in I thought I had to peel off the plastic. I was baffled and there were no instructions about the plastic, so I think this has been added to the description since the time I ordered it. I would not order it again, but I will use it in my garden exactly where I intended.

                Comments about Recycled Rubber Walkway:

I bought two of these to use as a central walkway in my greenhouse. Given how expensive they were, I was expecting something of a heavier, sturdier construction. The backing is black plastic that's about the weight of heavy plastic garbage bags. The shredded rubber that is somehow affixed to the backing does look like shredded bark mulch, but some of it is already coming loose. I'm worried these may not last very long, and it they do disintegrate, I'll have the shreds to clean up.

I found that it's very easy to cut it to the size I want. Plus, it looks just like real mulch, but without degrading or letting any weeds ever enter the bed. I just wish it was a little less expensive.

                    Comments about Recycled Rubber Walkway:

Experiment: My goal is to have a low maintenence path through my large flower bed. I put tar paper down first then rolled out my new rubber walkway over it. I love the natural look and feel.

Note: Weeds will still go through rubber, so the tar paper will prevent that.

                      Comments about Recycled Rubber Walkway:

I live in the Pacific Northwest where it rains a lot. Behind my apartment, I have a small concrete patio with a bit of yard. The apartment complex has a terrible erosion problem, and the landscape crew does the least possible work on it. In the past 4 years, my backyard has turned into a mud puddle. Due to health problems, I can't create and maintain a garden. So I put 4 of these recycled rubber walkways out there to cover most of the bare ground. The rain has been sparse this fall and winter, but the deluge will come. I'm hoping that this year my dog won't return from the yard caked and dripping with mud. The prospects are certainly better now that I have these walkways. I can even go out into the yard myself without fear of the mud, to clean up after my darling pet.
