Too big and bulky for my counter, Thinking about turning it into a planter for outside. Not as attractive as I expected. Wish I would have ordered the smaller prettier one.

We like the rustic look in our Log Home, but the narrow top makes emptying difficult. Another time, we'll go with a better design.

I wanted something big enough but not so large to fit under the sink. It does and easy to carry outside to compost bin. BUT, the lid doesn't fit well and when I tried to press it on the handle almost went flat but for the fingers inside it. So, the lid fits not fully on the top. I do have to pull items out from the container as well.

              Just Perfect!

This compost bucket is ideal for my 1840s VT farmhouse - looks great in the kitchen. It's a decent size, but I still find myself emptying it more often than I would like.

As mentioned before, the neck is a bit narrow so I try to tear up larger pieces before putting in - but it's not that much of a hassle (though I supposed it could be if you use compost bags).

The first one that arrived had horrible attempts at making it look "rustic" - lots of smeared black paint, but Gardener's sent out a replacement right away.

                    • Bag Slips Inside
                    • Hard to empty
                    • Industrial Appeasrasnce
                    • Neck too narrow

                    Best Uses

                    • Composting kitchen waste

The narrow neck precludes easily removing the bag to empty out the kitchen waste. The container is so deep, the bag slips down inside it unless held in place with a rubber band.

I use this pail to collect vegetable scraps for my chickens and it is perfect. I have gotten a lot of compliments on this pail. It fits perfectly on the kitchen counter and can hold a lot of scraps. The lid can be hard to remove sometimes but most of the time it is easy.

                        Best Uses

The Farmhouse milk can compost pail is quaint but not practical due to the poor design. The neck, being smaller than the body, makes it virtually impossible to remove the filled compost bag. Ideally, the entire top of the body should be able to be removed for easier emptying. I'm glad I kept my old compost bucket.

I like this bucket. I use the bags in it and love both of them. The lid is kind of hard to remove and replace but may loosen a little with use. I like the size and the look.

                                        How-To

                                        • Learn how to compost your kitchen and yard waste, using a compost bin, a pile or a composter.
                                        • With the increase in recycling and reuse programs, it's easier than ever to reduce the amount of trash in our garbage cans. But we can do more. Some estimates say that a single household can divert 300 pounds a year from the waste stream.
