In our new apartment we have no W/D hookups and are barred from using portables. Going to the laundromat is very expensive and unpleasant, so I've started hand-washing most of my clothes. Two of these 3.5 gallon tub trugs with a colander make for a perfect little "washing/rinsing machine" that I can do a good-sized load in, either in the bathtub or beside the sink. Nested together, these fit underneath my clothes-drying rack in the bathroom, and I just use it as a dirty-clothes hamper. When it's full of clothes, I wash them. Simple, tidy, efficient...and I really like how my clothes turn out. Much gentler on my clothes than the old washer/dryer, better for the environment, and far cheaper. I get the added benefit of a little workout for my arms (or legs, if I stomp), and it's a nice meditation, too.

This is a good sized colander. I use it with the 7 & 11 gal. trugs to rinse produce right out of the garden. Especially useful for washing large batches of greens.

For years I've been washing off carrots/beets in my original black trug out on the lawn. most of the veggies spilled out and were still muddy. This strainer is the best. Wonderful to use. Easy to clean

I purchased the colander tubtrub with the 7 gal tubtrug. I am an avid gardener/canner. I have livestock so nothing goes to waste. The colander makes it possible to do a thorough cleansing of my produce at the outside kitchen. I can even use the tubtrug to water my garden with the waste water!

                              • Rinsing produce

I really like that the colander fits snugly in the smallest size tubtrub with a space between the tubtrub bottom and the bottom of the colander so I can rinse the dirt from the roots of produce and they are not sitting in the muddy water. I also like to rinse leafy produce outside to dislodge any earwigs or aphids before bringing them inside. The colander is quite small however, which is fine if one is harvesting just a few root vegetables or a lettuce. It would be great if Gardener's could make a colander which nested in the largest size tubtrub. These are a little expensive as others have noted, however, I imagine the company isn't producing an enormous run of them so this probably pushes up the price.

I use this w my 7 gal Tubtrug to wash the majority of dirt off before bringing vegetables in from the garden. I like tossing my lettuce or herbs into the cool water as I harvest, pull the colander and then take the still crisp produce into the kitchen to finish processing it.
