Description

  • VIDEO: Dual-Batch Compost Tumbler
  • Produce high quality compost quickly and efficiently
  • Let one bin "cook" while you add fresh materials to the other side
  • Two bins rotate separately; each bin holds approximately 3 cubic feet

Batch composting is the fastest and most efficient way to produce high quality compost, and this dual bin tumbler makes it easy. Fill one side with kitchen scraps and yard waste, then stop adding materials and let it "cook," turning it every few days to speed up the decomposition process. In the meantime, add new scraps to the other side. When the first batch of compost is finished, remove it and repeat the process, letting the other side cook.

Comments about Dual-Batch Compost Tumbler:

I was looking forward to this dual batch composter after trying to deal with large bin composters that are difficult to mix. The product shipped quickly, but a part was missing. After carefully reading the directions, I called to order the missed part, but it turned out to be the wrong one. So I had to call again and re-order the right part (this could have been avoided had there been troubleshooting tips on the directions). The wrong part came again, so I had to call back. Finally the right part came, but the pieces fit together very poorly and seemed very flimsy for the price. One of the covers is also difficult to slide on and off. Now that it's set up, I'm hoping it works well. I'm looking forward to seeing how the tumbling goes and hoping the results outweigh the trouble of assembly. I'm not sure yet whether I would recommend this product.

Slow to make compost, compost hard and difficult to remove from composter, poor design for kitchen compost even when brown tree leaves added 50-50. Do not recommend.

        Comments about Dual-Batch Compost Tumbler:

was disappointed the way it was shipped, the metal pieces were loose in the box and scratched the outside of the composter. it seems like the aeration holes are too large and should be on the sides. Not very sturdy now that I have some compost in it.
        Would not buy it again.

Much easier to rotate the pile and to empty than my old bin composter.
Compost is staying pretty wet (I live in South Florida and we have been getting the tropical afternoon rains), and still some un-composted pieces (eg. egg shells and orange skins) visible in the black muck after a few weeks of not adding anything new.

              Comments about Dual-Batch Compost Tumbler:

We are having so much fun using our new compost tumbler. It was a snap to set up and get started. The rotating bins make it easy to add material and to keep the compost "cooking". There is virtually no odor and even with our cool spring the bins have started heating up nicely. After just a month from the day of set up I was able to remove a 5 gallon bucket of screened compost.

                Comments about Dual-Batch Compost Tumbler:

I bought this because I have a small garden and I wanted to try composting in my limited space. The directions that came with it were inadequate and this from someone who really enjoys putting things together. One of the two doors is too tight for easy operation so I needed to sand down the edges to make it slide smoothly. I haven't had it up and running long enough to see how well it composts but turning the material should be easier than with the big plastic top loader I had before. I'm not sure yet if I would recommend it to a friend - if it actually works as well as advertised then it will make all the assembly difficulties worth it.

hoping it will be easy to get finished compost out of door unlike units that rest on the ground.

                      Comments about Dual-Batch Compost Tumbler:

So far we love our double barrel composter and keep showing it off to friends. Have already filled one side and it is now "cooking" and working well - already about 2/3rd the quantity and nice and warm. The design makes this very easy to keep aerated and mixed well and when trying to get the Green/Brown balance does a good job of mixing new items in when noticing was not quite balanced (smell...). Would recommend to anyone who wants to get started at composting!
