Description

  • A fun way to enjoy fresh, homegrown tomatoes
  • No weeds and fewer pests than in-ground plants
  • Can also be used to grow peppers, cucumbers and eggplants

The Gardener's Revolution Planter® is a fun and easy way to grow tomatoes. It's designed for healthy plant growth and easy maintenance, so you can get a blemish-free harvest anywhere in full sun — even on your deck or by the front door. The planter is sturdy and reusable, with a two-part, powder-coated steel cage and a woven poly liner that lets roots "breathe." The liner opens up for planting, then zips shut, so you won't injure the plant trying to push it through a hole. The planter hangs from our unique swivel hook that makes it a breeze to turn your plant. And now we've improved the top-down water delivery system to make it easier than ever to keep the plant properly watered. Even if you have a regular garden, you'll find that this revolutionary growing system is a fun way to get a picture-perfect harvest of delicious, homegrown tomatoes. Includes planting tips from our own test gardens.

  • We recommend using Self-Watering Container Mix and Organic Tomato Fertilizer, sold separately

Use these from front porch to keep cattle, rabbits, etc., from vegetables. These are very sturdy, attractive, but takes two people to handle as they are heavy when loaded.

I have used these planters for over 5 years. They always produce bumper crops of cherry tomatoes. My only complaint is the fabric bags seldom last more than one season, and Gardener's Supply no longer sells just the replacement bags.

          Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter:

I bought upside-down tomato(/strawberry) planters from Gardener's Supply because I knew (1) they would be sturdy and at least as well-made as any in a comparable market niche and (2) they would come with Very Clear Instructions, based on testing and a dedication to customer satisfaction.

Both of those things were true, so, that's awesome. (Especially since we are dealing with one adult who likes gardening and doesn't trust the newfangled upsidedown thing, and one (me) who is new to food-gardening ;).) However, the instructions precluded instant deployment: I hadn't (as a newbie) quite understood the amount of potting soil I would need to acquire(!), which you can estimate from the product photo, and how high they would need to hang for most normal tomoato plants to have adequate growth "height" (depth?!), which is NOT obvious from the product photo. Either you need quite tall porch ceilings/hanging posts or you need to choose compact tomato varieties.

That all said, although I don't think I'll get them hung and used this year, they store compactly (the cages come in half and nest and the liners squish) and I am confident that I will get many years of ues out of them (although I might need to hang the first experiment out of the line of sight until I figure out how to make the newfangled contraptions successful ;) ).

Have used the hanging tomato hangers for some time, and have enjoyed great success with them. Over the years the process of putting the plant in the bag has improved and now the plant isn't damaged when planting. Thanks!

              Comments about Gardener's Revolution® Planter:

I will be heartbroken if these are discontinued. Also, I have made quite an investment in the cages and need to be able to buy replacement bags.
For years, I have used these planters with great success. I LOVE THEM. There's definitely a learning curve to setting them up/using them but my husband and I have it down to a science! We started using them years ago when squirrels and shade over-took my in-ground garden.
I will validate to other reviewers in that the bags don't last and the holes [in the bags] do not match up with where the hooks are supposed to go. The hole thing is minor. As for the bags, I'm GLAD that they are breathable fabric which means they will rot over time. I've tried "Brand X" made of plastic and my plants rotted and cooked to death!
GARDENERS SUPPLY, PLEASE BRING THESE BACK!!
