I don't have room for a garden, so I grow in containers. These self watering are the best. If I am out of town for a couple of days I don't worry if my vegetables are getting water. A big plus is the portability and the fact you can move them as the sun changes. Heavy construction but not too heavy to move. This will last many planting seasons. Thank you Gardeners for a quality product.

lettuce and one pepper plant we will see how they do. self watering is nice. the tube you put in for checking water level is in the way of planting in the middle of the box. and when plants grow it will cover it weird place. cheaply made and wont last long . I have another that is sturdier.

I got this to catch the drips from a window box so as not to waste a single drop of water in dry old california. It fit under just right. I have had these before at my previous house in a small deck space and they lasted very well.

Living in Arizona, watering is critical for a plant to survive. These self-watering troughs are great! They can go about a week before getting watered, so if I go on vacation and the neighbor forgets to water, the plants still have water to get them through until I get home. I will definately order more in the fall!

I didn't expect to need to water this planter every day, but it is July and the hottest season, so perhaps that will be the case in other seasons. I suggest that the instructions include diagrams.

These planters are sturdy, durable, maintain their coloration and the best buy for the price. I ordered several at least 6 years ago and they're still going strong. ...ordered six more this year and am about to order more. They can be used anywhere and for just about anything. I've not only planted directly into them, but placed old, worn cocoa matted window boxes in them. Plants don't dry out nearly as quickly. Herbs love them too. A GREAT BUY!

                                  How-To

                                  • Beautiful, bountiful planters depend on good soil, fertilizer and careful watering. But to take your planters from standard to sensational, you need the right plants. Start with this simple rule: Combine plants with three different habits. In other words, thrillers, fillers and spillers.
                                  • To create beautiful flowering planters, it helps to pick the right plants. Browse our gallery of flowering pots, planters, hanging baskets, windowboxes and more. You’ll find plenty of inspiration – and detailed plant lists, so you can recreate the look at home.
