All About Snip-n-Drip Watering Systems
Easy, customizable system
helps plants thrive and saves water
When we introduced the Snip-n-Drip watering system last year, we knew it would help gardeners design custom-fit systems for their raised beds. Right away, we heard from people who wanted to take the idea further. For instance:
"We are using the product to water young pecan trees that are 50 feet apart. We had to buy extra garden hose, of course, but it works wonderfully. The water is delivered all the way down the line (which is 300 feet) and in 10 minutes, water is puddling around the trees. Love the product and plan to order more to use on the fruit trees because it waters the trees and not the grass in between. In addition, it was easy to use and put together."
The result is the Landscape Snip-n-Drip Soaker System, which comes with 100 feet of soaker hose and 50 feet of hose.
"When we started to expand the line, we really looked to customer comments as a guide," says Brooke Sperling, who manages the Snip-n-Drip line. "For 2013, we designed three solutions for different watering needs:"
- Garden rows
- Landscaped beds with trees and shrubs
- Raised beds and elevated gardens
"In addition, we still offer the original Snip-n-Drip Soaker System and a deluxe version, which includes weed-blocking mulch, a timer and a flow meter," Brooke says. "And for DIY types who want to design their own watering system, we offer all of the components. Soaker hoses, timers, 3-way connectors and couplers are all sold separately."
Not only is Snip-n-Drip infinitely customizable irrigation, it ensures that plants get a consistent supply of water. It's easy to install without special tools — use scissors to cut the soaker hose to apply water precisely where you want it, and then cut the garden hose to fit areas where you don't need water. The weeping action of soaker hoses delivers water right to your plants' roots — and not to weeds — with minimal loss due to evaporation and runoff.
For added convenience, you can tuck Snip-n-Drip out of sight under the soil or a layer of mulch and leave it in place year after year. You can even add a Water Timer and Flow Meter and turn your Snip-n-Drip into an automatic watering system.
