Get ready for a bonanza of delicious, juicy tomatoes all summer long! Breakthrough technology makes this self-watering planter the most effective way to grow tomatoes on your patio or deck. It holds a generous 60 qts. of potting mix — plenty of room for two tomato plants. Made from durable, low-maintenance polypropylene. We recommend using the included tie-backs to secure the planter to a post or railing.

Success starts in the roots. The perforated planter with sidewall ventilation and lightweight Grow Bag liner air-prune roots, ensuring a dense, vigorous root system that can take up more water and nutrients — the secret to super-productive plants.

Dual-Hydrate Watering System. Draws water from the reservoir into the soil two ways — an evaporative grid plus capillary strip — efficiently providing roots with water. And the large water reservoir provides consistent moisture and reduces watering chores.

Customizable support. The Sturdy Snap-Lock Rings and 34" integrated aluminum spines provide support wherever and whenever it's needed — and you can open, reattach and lock in the rings to gather up and support wayward branches.

Deborah, our lead Product Tester, says, "This planter is by far the best container for growing tomatoes that I've ever used."

Wonderful option if you do not have room in your garden.

Comments about : Gardener's Revolution® Classic Tomato Garden Kit:

So grateful to be able to have these planters--my tomato plants are doing really well. One thing I don't like is the plastic clips for holding the wire supports for the plants--some have snapped nicely into place others have been a real pain. Other than that the whole kit works extremely well. And may be I am just all thumbs with those clips--once you get the hang of them, I think they can work well. Just has been a bit of a struggle for me. But the plants are doing great and seem very happy!!!

Comments about : Gardener's Revolution® Classic Tomato Garden Kit:

Last year, I use the old ones, but with the wrong soil. No tomatoes. This year, I bought the new design AND the kit with the soil and fertilizer. I grow heirloom tomatoes. One tomato per planter, and they are thriving. I particularly like the larger water reservoir that's easier to fill. The old ones? Work great for peppers and eggplants!

      my tomatoes love it

Comments about : Gardener's Revolution® Classic Tomato Garden Kit:

I've grown tomatoes in containers before, but this one is my favorite so far. I don't need to fuss with remembering to stake or tie the plants up. The rings are sturdy and are keeping all the branches off the ground. My tomatoes in this container are actually bigger and have more fruit than the ones in my raised bed right now. I ordered the extension, because my plants are growing like crazy. Lots of fruit coming, so psyched!

Comments about : Gardener's Revolution® Classic Tomato Garden Kit:

I've been using Gardeners products for many years. I have a small rooftop garden in Brooklyn, NY. I began growing food especially tomatoes and herbs in their rectangular self-watering patio planters. I also have 2 of their Honeycomb planters, and this year added 3 Revolution Classic planters. One for tomatoes, one for cucumbers called Revolution vine planter with a different kind of trellis support, and a third planter without support that I'm growing basil and marigolds to keep pests away.

These planters have positively expanded the garden. They're easy to assemble. They come with instructions (especially the diagrams) that are easy to follow. I didn't keep track of time when assembling them, but it was not difficult to do.

What I like the most is their bigger size and how easy is to fill the reservoir with water through the top openings. The soil and fertilizer are excellent quality. I also use a coconut mulch from Gardeners in all containers because the rooftop garden is in direct sun. This helps keep the moisture a little longer.

For the tomato planter, I'm growing 2 heirloom Black Prince tomato plants. I have been trimming the plants and increasing the water during these very hot summer days in the city. The plants are not too big so they seem to work with the planter size. The rooftop can get quite windy at times and the support, planters and plants have stayed in place. I like the tie-backs that come with it and have them attached to the railing.

A garden is a place for trial and error, not everything is going to work on each garden. I highly recommend experimenting with different products like this. If it doesn't work for your type of garden, take notes and please share your constructive feedback. It's always nice to know what other gardeners are doing. I'm thankful I can use these planters in my garden as the options in the city are limited and/or extremely expensive. These are working for my type of garden and I hope my review is helpful to all.

This is a great idea, but the materials are so pour that pieces broke off when I tried to put this together. The top rim was not attached when it arrived and still does not stay in place. The clips were known to be a "bad design" and it took sooooo long to get the replacement clips (which they only sent 5 - need 10 to replace origional clips) that I ended up using duck tape to hold the wires on.
I would not recomend this product.

OK a couple of little problems, not the end of the world

Comments about : Gardener's Revolution® Classic Tomato Garden Kit:

First off, let me say that I am a 66 year old woman of average build, It took me approximately 20 minutes to assemble completely, including the clips, once I got my helpful husband out the door. The top ring was loose when it arrived, but I did get it snapped back into place. It is currently loose again since my husband tried to lift it with the top ring. Even though it is loose on one end, it still works just fine. My husband tried to 'man-handle' the clips into place, got mad and gave up after getting two on. Once he left, I was able to get the rest of them on, the first was a little tricky, but once I took the time to figure out what the problem was, the rest went on quite smoothly. The clips do allow the supports to slide up and down, although it does take a little time. You have to slide both sides evenly. As far as the grow bag staying under the rim, I kept working with it as I filled the soil in, and it is under the rim and working fine. I have two tomato plants that are doing very well, blooming and setting on great. I live on very sandy soil and have not been able to grow tomatoes for 12 years, plants would grow, bloom, but not set on. I live in NE and hope I will be able to extend my growing season by moving the plants into the garage this fall when they predict frost, then move them back out when it warms up again. The only complaint I have is the size of the casters. With the weight of the soil and water, they just don't want to roll very well on the concrete, so you have to lift just a little to take some of the weight off (see above comment on the top ring). I plan on purchasing another either this year or next Spring (or maybe both).

        Horrible Design

Comments about : Gardener's Revolution® Classic Tomato Garden Kit:

I am a long time Gardeners Supply customer and am very, very, very, very disappointed. I wish I had read the reviews before ordering.

The clips are IMPOSSIBLE to attach. I asked my husband to help since the company suggested that you might need two people to install the supports and clips. My husband, who is extremely handy -- couldn't get them to stay in place -- two of the clips broke -- and we ended up wrapping the supports in place with electrical tape.

Also, the skinny plastic top piece of the planter itself keeps disconnecting from the larger bottom section. I see the company has added a warning about that, which they included in the order as a separate flyer, but didn't bother to warn people about before ordering. It refuses to stay in place. This is unacceptable.

This entire product is plastic junk. But I already had my tomatoes growing in the planter before attempting to add the wire supports so I don't want to send it back at this time. I'm stuck with a taped-together piece of made-in-China garbage and a very annoyed spouse. Maybe if Gardeners Supply made this product closer to home they could supervise the manufacturing better. They should definitely not have paid whoever designed and manufactured this mess.

clips are still the weak link

Comments about : Gardener's Revolution® Classic Tomato Garden Kit:

I love the idea of this product; the mobility and the support system, primarily, but these can't overcome the terrible manufacturing and the cheap plastic used. The first growing system I received had broken plastic parts in the tub, but that was replaced with no problem. (It should have been a red flag, though.) I delayed my review until I could try the new version of the much-maligned support clips, but I'm still very disappointed.

The good news is the new clips do provide much better support. Once locked in all four places, they will not move up and down. They are STILL very difficult to work with. I'm a fairly slight woman, but I am not feeble in mind or in body, and I was not able to press down on both sides of any clip simultaneously. It took far too long and far too much strength to get some of them locked. Some I gave up on. I just hope I was able to install enough of them to see the plants through the season, assuming they will continue to produce after all my manhandling. They might have been a little easier to install before the plants grew, but I would not purchase another of these without a significant redesign of the clips. I can only guess that the company's testers work with prototypes and not production units.

I doubt that these clips are going to last long. The "hinge" weakens with normal use. Something other than cheap molded plastic is called for. Also, I think the tubs need a little more ground clearance when the rollers are used. Once the water reservoir is full, it is difficult to roll them over anything but the smoothest surface.

        Nice option for container growing

Comments about : Gardener's Revolution® Classic Tomato Garden Kit:

I did read all the comments pertaining to the assembly of this product prior to purchasing but it was one of the best products out there for container tomotoe growing so I figured I would give it a chance. Overall was easy to assemble, however the clips are hard to snap into place (I am not sure I got the old or improved ones as I purchased mine in early June. You just have to remember to rotate the clip so that it is level when snapping into place. All mine worked with some persistence! Being able to grow 2 plants and have a reservoir for water is why I purchased this one. It is hot during the summer where I live so I dont want to risk having the soil dry out. Also the soil that comes with the kit is a must as it retains the water and keeps the soil hydrated. Along with that you get fertilizer specifically for tomotoes and a guide how and when to apply and reapply through out the growing season. Lastly, dont forget to look for online coupon codes which makes the deal even better!

We could not assemble the clips that are suppose to hold the wires in place. I wish I would have read the reviews before I purchased. Big mistake! I would not recommend this to a friend or anyone else. This is one very bad design.
