ShrubGuards protect your shrubs from winter wind, snow, sunscald, and hungry deer as effectively as burlap, but they're more attractive, easier to install and secure snugly without breaking branches. Made from breathable, nonwoven polypropylene fabric with a leaf motif that blends into the landscape; drawstrings at the top and bottom keep the cover in place. Includes storage bag.

  • Protect shrubs from harsh winter weather and browsing deer
  • Easy to install without damaging branches
  • More attractive alternative to burlap
  • Secures snugly with drawstrings
  • Choice of three sizes

Comments about ShrubGuard Covers:

I purchased 2 medium & 1 large. The large one I did not use, it was more for a larger rounded item vs taller. I wish they made them a little bit taller vs wide. My rose bush & small potted scrub did great, no winter damage. Very easy to use. I am pleased with the purchase.

My shrubs are taller than the Large cove
By ClaireVerified Purchaser from Avon, CT on 1/6/2011
Pros:
Easy To Use, Lightweight, Solid Construction, Weather Resistant
Cons:
Not tall enough
Best Uses:
Gardening, Keep Deer from eating
Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about ShrubGuard Covers:

Everything is great but the size. My shrubs are too tall. The cover only covers i/2 of the shrub. It looks rediculous, not that I care but the Deer can stand up and eat above the cover.

Comments about ShrubGuard Covers:

I bought this to protect a new arbor vitae that is where it will catch all winter abuse. I bought the second size so I could use it as the plant grows. It is HUGE! I also have braced it with stakes so it would not catch the wind and blow the plant over.

Looks better than berlap
By Just experimentingVerified Reviewer from Portsmouth, VA on 11/29/2010
Pros:
Comfortable Grip, Lightweight, Solid Construction, They are not unattractive
Cons:
Difficult to Use
Best Uses:
Gardening

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about ShrubGuard Covers:

While we have a milder cllimate than some, our Oleanders take a beating in the winter. Usually they have to be really cut back in the spring. The salt in the air "burn" them. Hopefully at least half of the bush will be protected.

Needs improvement
By Ms. GreenthumbVerified Reviewer from Wisconsin on 11/28/2010
Pros:
Lightweight, Looks good
Cons:
Drawstrings don't work, Safety pins can tear, Small ties rip easily, Still too open of a gap
Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about ShrubGuard Covers:

While appearance is good, product...not so much. Drawstrings don't always pull tight and get stuck; small ties are not stitched on well and rip off easily and the large safety pins don't pull the openings tight enough without ripping the material. Too bad as Gardeners Supply usually offers great products.

Comments about ShrubGuard Covers:

I replaced my previous shrubguards that were only 1 year old with these and was very impressed with the quality of the material used. It was easier when my daughter helped me put them on, but not impossible to do by myself. Great product!

Easy to install
By Nathalie LVerified Purchaser from Tolland CT on 11/12/2010
Pros:
Easy To Use, Solid Construction
Best Uses:
Lawn Maintenance
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about ShrubGuard Covers:

I bought several sizes this year. I am trying them instead of the proven use of burlap.

I used it mostly to protect young trees against deers during the winter.

We will see in spring how well it worked.

As far as the installation, it is wayyyyy easier and faster than with the burlap, which I usually sew around. My main concern is to see how will the pins fare in the wet and cold winter: Are they going to be useful for one ear only? Verdict in March!

Not up to normal quality from Gardener's
By JohnVerified Purchaser from southern Vermont on 11/8/2010
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about ShrubGuard Covers:

Fabric pieces for tying it came off when attempting to tie it up, generally not well made. Unusual for Gardener's Supply as their products are usually first rate, but I was very disappointed in these shrub covers.
