    Comments about Leaf Collector:

It is lightweight and put together quite easily. It will pick up some of the leaves, but not as many as you would like. You will still have to rake leaves. Also the catch bin is quite small for its use.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

I am using the sweeper to pick up thousands of gum balls that fall from the tree.

The only problem is the handle bar does not come up high enough and, therefore, I am in a stooped position while pushing the sweeper.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

After many years of leaf raking (I am almost 80) I find the leaf collector perfect for sweeping leaves off lawns. It doesn't collect every one but it gets enough off to let the grass flourish. Disposing of the leaves is also easy, involving very little lifting and bending.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

I wanted something that would be a quick gas free tool to pick up leaves. This is great! I am thrilled with it. There are some negative comments about it on other reviews, but there is nothing that is perfect to pick up leaves. You do have to adjust the height for the area you are going over, but on our lawn, and we live in the country, it looks like we are using a vacuum to pick up the leaves. I think it's fantastic especially for the money. Thanks for designing it.

    We don't like this!

    Describe Yourself:

    Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

The unit is big and doesn't work at all on lawns that are not completely flat. It is difficult to empty as you have to pick up the entire unit and turn it over and shake the bag inside out. Gobs of leaves stick in the collector and you have to pull them out by hand. Because it is so big, it is difficult to store in our little barn, even though the leaf collector folds up. If we had not already used it, I would return it.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

I am very glad I followed the recommendations for this sweeper. On a smooth, well tended lawn, nothing could work better for collecting leaves and putting them in bags or a compost pile. It is invaluable for an elderly woman with back problems. It probably sweeps less well on hilly, rough lawns as some have indicated.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

We have tons of leaves that fall in batches over a 4-5 month period. This helps us keep things under control. The kids want a turn which is nice! It does a decent job, but it does not get everything...but what does? You need to keep your pace slow and steady for better results or the leaves will fly out.

    Cons:
Difficult to Use, Does not work with wind
    Best Uses:
    Lawn Maintenance
    Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

Needs an attachable curved shield to direct leaves into the bags, especially on windy days. The sweepers throw the leaves up in the air and they don't all land in the bag. It's windy a lot in the Northeast in the Fall and many of the swept-up leaves land back out on the lawn instead of the bag. The advertisement demonstrations showing it cleaning all the leaves up twhen you go over them, is a mis-representation.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

This product is light weight. However, it is so light weight that it does not pick up that many leaves. The leaves blow out of the collector and you must make multiple passes to clean up the same area. The collector bin is easy to use but does not hold a lot of leaves before it is full. It clogs easily when going over dense amount of leaves and does not pick them up. My kids did not like it. It was a waste of money, raking into a tarp is much more efficient. If you have minimal amount of leaves to maintain, this product is good. If you have a tremendous amount of leaves, leave this product in the catalogue.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

My yard is mostly wooded, so there are LOTS of leaves! I do need to keep them off the grassy areas. Till this year I've used a combination of raking (hard on the back and shoulders) and a leaf-sucker/chopper/bagger (noisey, dusty, small capacity) The sweeper is gentler and easier than either of the others.

It doesn't do too well when going downslope - I have to arrange my "sweep" to go across-slope or up, then carry the bag to the tarp. But gravity is gravity, and ya gotta live with it.

Only time will show if the cheap material of the bag will hold up or not - doesn't really look too promising. We'll see...

    Describe Yourself:

    Bottom Line:

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

I purchased this sweeper hoping it would help me create an easy pace in staying "ahead" of fall clean up. I live in a heavily wooded area with primarily maple, birch, white pine and various types of oak trees. Early in the fall season when the maples and birch are dropping leaves, no matter how carefully I adjust this sweeper, it just skims the surface of the lawn or driveway, making many passes necessary. When the oak leaves (and acorns) drop - and oaks leaves are thick and make a dense layer - it sweeps up tons of leaves but pushes all the acorns forward! Under these circumstances, the leaf collector bin fills up in maybe 2 (or less) minutes. So I spend much of my time emptying the bin into a larger one.
However!!!!! : )) This tool does work great with white pine needles!

    Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

After reading all the reviews, I decided to go ahead and try this product. We have 5 large trees and although some of our yard is sloped or uneven, most of it is flat. I found that I had to go over the areas multiple times and even then, a lot of leaves were left over. And it wouldn't even push through the piles we had under our oak.

Raking was much faster. This product just didn't work for me.

However, customer service is fantastic and I'm sending the product back for a full refund. This is the only time I've ever had to return something and will definitely continue to buy from this company.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

This requires more energy to use than it seems like it should; you need to walk at a pretty good pace to propel the leaves into the catcher. Also, the device does nothing to solve the problem of leaf volume; I found myself emptying the hopper about once a minute or so, which causes me to bend and turn as much or more than others devices. I does work, but I find a mulching blower/vac to be more efficient at removing the leaves from the lawn, especially when considering the 8:1 to 16:1 reduction capability of these devices.

Can be used under perfect conditions only. Must be perfectly level and dry, sometimes you must go over the same strip as it doesn't pick up everything in one swipe. Best used when leaf fall is light...then keep up with it each day or every other day. Slightly better than raking.

Easy to assemble, easy to use. the key is to take a moment to make the adjustment correct on the front to accommodate the height of the grass or whatever surface you're sweeping. It picks up leaves, small sticks, whatever is in its path really. i do a very large lawn in much less time and less bending over, raking, etc!
the wheels could be a bit more beefy (would be better on bumpy/rutted yards)and I agree with others that the bag is sort of small, but you have to be able to walk behind it so....

I struggled with gathering the fall leaves on my lawn and sidewalk every year. No more!

The multiple height adjustments make it easy to transition from a higher lawn, to a lower pavement. This product scoops up the leaves like a vacuum! I weigh 110 lbs. and am 5'5". It is extremely easy to maneuver.

Also the drier the leaves, the easier it works, though I have no major complaints on it gathering wet leaves either.

    Excellent product.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

I purchased this for my husband as a Christmas gift. Because of the weather we were not able to try it until recently. I must say it was probably the biggest waste of money I have ever spent on a gardening tool. My husband tried it in an area of the yard that only had a small amount of leaves and it didn't pick up any leaves. So he tried it in an area that had a lot of leaves and to his disappointment it left most of them on the grass. He found the basket to be too small. I know I could spend the money to try and ship it back and return it but I don't have the box, etc. Most items I purchase through this website of great but on this don't waste your money

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

I own a farm and have leaves everywhere. I like this item as a maintenance tool for leaves "on top of" the grass. It does not do so well if the leaves are ground-in to the yard. It also has difficulty with holes or uneven ground as well. If you're looking for a tool to handle a large amount of leaves at once, maybe a pull behind tractor would be better. But, for a large area like I have with leaves scattered here and there, it's great. I like this tool because it's easy on my back. You may have to pass over an area more than once but it's easier to do that than rake such a large space.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

We have many large cottonwood leaves, as well as others of all sizes, and our large lawn develops bumps from moles and freezing. This leaf sweeper works only on the flattest parts of the lawn, and likes medium sized leaves. Small ones are left behind and large ones are thrown around. If the leaves are wet, a lot remain on the ground. The best use for this is to pick up leaves immediately after they fall. Raking is more thorough, and since I got this product to avoid raking, I certainly would not buy it again and I would not recommend it.

    Bottom Line:

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

I really love the idea and it works pretty well. The main problem that I see is that the height of the rotating "rakes" isn't adjustable (can be changed a bit by raising or lowering the bar like you would lift a wheelbarrow). So depending on the grass height, it may pass over 50% of the leaves and you can't get any lower. Picking up leaves on a driveway isn't possible unless they are piled pretty high.

So I use it as something to quickly debulk the leaves where it gets pretty thick, but still need my blower/rake to really get the job done.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

We have a lot of oak and maple trees in our yard and were really hoping for a product to relieve some fall back stress from all the raking. The brushes that pick up the leaves do an adequate job. The biggest flaw is in design of the leaf hopper. It is difficult and awkward to remove and replace when full or empty and isn't very large, requiring frequent stops. When the leaf hopper gets full, it can drag on the ground and spill the leaves you've just swept up. If you only have a light fall leaf job, this could be helpful. If like us, fall is a large project, you'll probably be disappointed.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

I was so excited to get this product. I had seen reviews that said the lot needed to be level and did not think that would be a problem as our lot is a level .75 acres. However, the reason I bought this product is because the lot has multiple trees and I did not take into consideration that the abundant tree roots would cause such difficulty in using the product. They necessitate several passes with the sweeper in the same location to do the job. While the item is not a total dud, it will not really work for me.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

This collector did a great job picking up a thick blanket of leaves, even when they were wet. I rolled it across the lawn and then dumped the full bag into a wheelbarrow. I emptied four or five bagfuls into the wheelbarrow, and then used a full bag to cap the load while I wheeled it to the compost pile.

The wheels sometimes spin or get stuck, depending on the terrain. The yard wasn't spotless when I got done, but the collector saved me hours of raking and picking up leaves. I would definitely recommend it if you get a thick carpet of leaves on your lawn.

A little time consuming to put together and bucket capacity is limited. Somewhat problematic to use if the ground isn't level, i.e., too much height adjustment of the "rakes" is required to deal with depressions in the ground; otherwise, much easier on the body than a rake.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

As others have said, it has trouble on areas where the height of the grass changes. If this had some sort of on-the-fly cable mechanism to adjust the brush height I'd give this 5 stars.

Also, the wheels are pretty narrow and are hard rubber & plastic, so they can dig in to soft spots and holes. These dips cause the entire brush mechanism to also dig in and stops you cold. So, I have to do a lot of back & forth moves - kinda like using a vacuum cleaner.

One really nice thing that I noticed is that it has no trouble picking up chopped up leaves. In fact, chopped up leaves take up less space in the hopper.
So, if your grass is still a little long from your last mowing, go ahead and mow it with the leaves still on it. Then, use the leaf collector to pick up the chopped up leaves. (Does it hurt grass to mow it in late fall? I dunno. Also, a mulching mower might stuff the leaves down too far. Again, I dunno about that.)

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

This product is best suited for small yards with less than a moderate amount of leaves. Use as it regularly as it doesn't handle large amounts of leaves well; it fills up quickly. It also performs best on short lawns -- under 3".

(The product photo is misleading because with that many leaves you quickly fill the hopper up and spend the majority of your time emptying the thing.)

This product, along with the Deluxe Leaf Shredder took what was previously a two-day, two person job and made it a one-person, six hour job. The Leaf Collector was easy to assemble and made the arduous task of raking a good-sized lawn with six large trees - dare I say - enjoyable. It was so easy that I did not even mind when my children ran through the leaf piles, scattering some of the leaves. Done in one day, without a sore back, and the resulting mulh was so good that I was able to use it everywhere we hae outdoor plants. Instead of a dozen or more trash bags full of yard waste like my neighbors have, I had two because I was able to use nearly all of the resulting mulch in the yard.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

I was disappointed when we first bought this because I was hoping that this would clear a nice path and that I'd see exactly where I had been with it. It didn't. But my 9 yo son loved pushing it around and it picked up enough that I wasn't cursing the loss of money (well, too much anyway).

But then I figured out the trick to the whole thing: Mom or Dad or older siblings rake up small piles of leaves and then the littler kids follow them around and use this to 'rake up' the little piles (probably ages 6 or 7 and up would be tall enough to be able to use this comfortably). It's difficult to push if the piles are too big, but it doesn't pick up enough to be worth it if there aren't any piles at all.

Frankly, if you're an adult, raking leaves onto a tarp makes A LOT more sense and goes A LOT faster. But with this tool, little kids can be put to work AND will actually be accomplishing a notable amount of leaf collecting (WAAAAAY more than what a kid can do with a regular rake).

We have 3 100+ year old maple trees and my son and I can get the yard looking pretty great in about an hour. If you have kids, I highly recommend this tool.

I love this thing, I can now clean the leaves off my lawn in a fraction of the time it used to take and my back and hands don't take a beating like they did before. The leaf collector is easy to push and the collection bag is easy to empty

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

My leaf collector is a real God send to me. I had practically given up trying to keep my yard free of leaves until I purchased this leaf collector. I have a huge yard and I am nearly 70 years young. This is easy to manuever and very easy to use. I also consider it fun compared to the old way of gathering leaves. It empties easily and I don't become as tired as I used to while gathering leaves.

    Remarkable manual, quality parts
By HonorVerified Purchaser from Fayetteville, AR on 9/15/2008
    Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

I was first startled by the masterpiece of brevity and clarity in the assembly manual (almost a work of art) - perfectly efficient in relative use of detailed graphics and text. Then further surprised by the quality of screws, something I hadn't seen in a long time. Thinking this can't have been made in China, I searched around till I found 'manufactured in Israel' stamped on the box. The very definition of 'quality' in a product is including more than required or expected - true here of manual, parts, & design.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

As there aren't a lot of leaves yet I only tried it once but I loved it. It's kind of a pain changing the height but as my lawn is not even, I see no way around that. I have a bad back so this is dream product as I have a LOT of leaves in the fall. I know I will love using this product.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

Just purchased a house that has a massive amount of trees. Last year we had to rake every other day. After putting the leaf collector and wheeling in to the shed, it picked up twigs, grass and etc.
Hoping this works well and saves us a lot of work. Will keep you posted on how well it works.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

Leaf Collector works great, even picked up leaves that had laid on lawn all winter. It was easy to put together, I assembled while my husband began using the leaf blower. I picked up the piles, it worked great. Also works on the driveway, great for sweeping up grass clippings too. Had to be careful not to overload the hopper, or it was too bulky for me to handle. (I am 5' tall) Sure beat raking...

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

I have 2 big maple trees and because I have a bad back and sensitivity to dust, the fall raking has been a nightmare for years. I bought this last year, not entirely confident that it would work, but it does - beautifully! It picked up big piles of leaves without breaking them up the way a rake does, and it's very easy to lift up the hopper and dump the leaves into a pile for composting or pick up. I think bagging would be a problem as the hopper is a little too wide for precise placement.

    Bottom Line:

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

This leaf picker-upper is a great idea, it picks up small amounts of leaves quite handily, but tends to spew the leaves out when trying to pick up bigger piles. It also needs to be emptied frequently and that's a bit tricky to do without spilling leaves all over. If you only have a few leaves to pick up, it's a good investment. If you have a yardful you'll need to rake of call in the professionals.

The handle shipped with the parts was not drilled properly therefore it would not fit together good. I have not gotten to us it because I have to make new handles for the product. I felt it was too much hassle to sent back.

    Comments about Leaf Collector:

This is great for fast 'raking' up leaves. Just push it and it is easy to see the wide path where you've picked up leaves. It really cleans the lawn nicely with out having to pull out the mower and certainly is much easier on your back than using an old fashion rake. But because it does not mulch the leaves, you need to mash leaves down in a yard bag or put in a compost heap. And putting the leaves in a yard bag from the 'collection' bag is difficult. If the collection bag did not have the metal rod frame, it would be flexible to where you could just fold it and let the leaves slide out and in to a yard bag. I like that it is light weight, BUT one of the yellow connectors that holds the collection bag on the handle came with a crack in it... it will 'work' but I have to watch that the bag does not get too heavy or else it will break completely. It does a great job picking up small & large leaves, small twigs & even pecans. I won't dread the fall any more because of this great little machine.
