long-lasting brightness
By LI GardenerVerified Purchaser from Remsenburg, NY on 6/3/2011
Pros:
Area Of Illumination, Easy to mount, Lit even when cloudy, Stays lit all night, Very adjustable
Cons:
Directions are minimal, S panel slides off mount
Best Uses:
Illuminate yard gates
Describe Yourself:
Casual Do-It-Yourselfer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

Used this to light our yard gate to make it visible and safer at night. The lights stay on all night, even after cloudy days. Would recommend these for dependable safety lighting in areas without electrical outlets. My only issue was with the design of the solar panel mount, which does not allow the panel to stay securely locked in place - we've had the panel slide out and drop to the ground several times - had to use wire to secure it. Directions are also minimal, apparently due to chinese/English translation issues.

Best Uses:
Flag Illumination

Bottom Line:

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

The lights work great, even in a spot where they don't get a lot of sun the lights still remain on until after 12:30 on a sunny day. Will be moving flag pole to an area that does not sit in the shade and hopefully that will allow the light to last through the night. I would have given it 5 stars except that the batteries that it comes with are below the 2400mAh that it suggests you install. While those batteries may have lasted the night I couldn't be sure so I went out and bought 2700mAh batteries. If it had come with the right batteries this would be a 5 star purchase, as it is just be aware you will probably want to go buy batteries as well.

Have installed them in a shade garden as uplights to illuminate the tree canopies. Works well. The fact that the remote solar panel has ample cord, allows for placement in a sunny spot.

By SandyVerified Purchaser from Pittsburgh, PA on 5/13/2011
Pros:
Area Of Illumination, Attractive Design, Weather Resistant
Cons:
Need longer cord
Best Uses:
Back Yard, Front Yard, Gardens, Pool/Pond Area, Useful anywhere in yard, Walkway
Describe Yourself:
Avid Do-It-Yourselfer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

I used these to light up my walk way and they work wonderful. Wish I could get regular walkway lights that worked on the same principle. Having the solar panel separate from the lights themselves is great because much of my walk is shaded. Just wish the cord to the lights was a bit longer like maybe 5-10 feet. Can always shorten the cord but can't lengthen it to reach the bottom of the walk.

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

We had some new landscaping installed in the back yard and I was very concerned about lighting the back 3 trees. We got an estimate from a landscape lighting company and decided we would try these solar lights and save $1,000. They were very easy to install and we brighter than I expected. The also dont require as much light toncharge the batteries as i was afraid they would. Two days after we put them in, a hailstorm came through that totaled our roof and beat up the cars but the lights weren't damaged at all. So far, so good.

Pros:
Area Of Illumination, Attractive Design
Best Uses:
Front Yard, Pool/Pond Area
Describe Yourself:
Avid Do-It-Yourselfer
Bottom Line:

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

I used one to illuminate my pond and the other to illuminate my front gate entrance. Good light that lasts until dawn. Hint: you can greatly increase the illumination if you aim it to hit something reflective...in my case, white limestone boulders around pond and the metal of my front gate. Yes, a bit of an investment price-wise but if they last several years (and it seems they will) it will be worth it.

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

I've had a pair of these outside, facing UP for over two years. They still work well - no weather issues at all. They stay on all night even though the solar panel is not ideally placed.

These are not as bright as MR16s or similar high wattage fixtures, but they last longer, and for path illumination in the dark, it is adequate. If you need actual safety lighting, you may need either multiple sets in one location, or MR16 outdoor fixtures.

The words "Solar" and "Ultra-brite" are what interest me in buying this product. Plus, it has some great reviews. Well, it did not stand to its name "Ultra-Brite." Area Of Illumination, Attractive Design
Best Uses:
Back Yard, Front Yard
Describe Yourself:
Avid Do-It-Yourselfer
Bottom Line:

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

Used as up lights on two palms. I have other great solar lights and these are even brighter. The only fault I find with these is the instuctions show to install the 2500 mah batteries but only 1500 mah batteries were provided which made the difference between lasting all night (w/2500) and not. I just ordered two more sets for other trees. Guess I'll have to furnish 2500 mah batteries for those too. Still worth it for such bright solars.

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

Having read some of the prior reviews I was concerned the light would be under powered. I had purchased cheaper solar lights from a discount store to light our flag pole. The light barely reached mid-pole. These lights day one with only one hour of charge easily lit our flag at night. What a wonderful surprise. I also love the option to move the solar panel away from the lights. The cords were easily tucked away for a finished look.

A dear friend of mine claimed that no solar light could offer the illumination found in traditional electric lights. Purchased these lights at least a year and a half ago and still love them! Going strong... I placed them in my front flower bed that goes along the front of my house which faces due west. They illuminate two medium sized palm trees in the bed and the light spills nicely on to the front of my house as well as on an adjacent crepe myrtle tree. Gives a classy look with a nice bright white light.....don't like the cheaper amber lights at all :-(( Buy these lights and you will love them..

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

Purchased to light up a small tree. It's LED lights are too white compared to the other "yellow" incandescent spotlights. May have to change the incandescent spotlights to LEDs or vice versa. Best to purchase same type of lights for your landscape lighting so the total effect will be uniform and not spotchy.

Too weak for lighting a tree. Two large spotlights would be better.

Set up for corner illumination, I have a statue that I wanted spotlighted at night. The light is fine for my use. Just a small backyard and wanted ambience. Well made of metal. Assembly easy and easy to install. I expected that for the price. Only lasts 4 or five hours though. It gets lots of sun here in Las Vegas so that is not the problem.

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

These light generate a good amount of light. They have an attractive design that blends into my landscape. I have not had to change the bulb yet so I do not know how easy that is or not. I have outdoor hard wired lighting throughout my yard, but when a tree fell during recent storms several lights are not working. Of course this happened a few days before a pool party. I ordered these light to eluminate these areas for the party. My only complaint is that the blue-white light has a completely different look than my hard wire lighting. One or the other . . . but both look strange. They sure helped in a pinch.

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

These lights are perfect for lighting the front of my house where I have some beautiful landscaping. I have both lights aimed at plants in front of large windows so it provides security as well as a highlight for my hard work. I see in other people's reviews of solar lights that the lighting dies early or does not shine bright. It is VERY important where you place the solar panel so it gets full sun all day and that no surrounding lights are near the solar panel at night. The solar panel has a light sensor on it and if neighboring lights reach that sensor, it will not shine as bright because the sensor assumes there is still daylight.

Easy to install but has only worked one night. We are still fiddling with it to see if it is unplugged, or not plugged in correctly, in an attempt to not have to box it up and return it. The one night it did work, it was not nearly as light as the advertisement lead us to believe it would be. So far, very very disappointed.

I used the lights to illuminate two palm trees in the front yard. I was hoping to bring some light to the front of the house but am disappointed in the brightness. The area of illunination is large. It does cover the palm trees but it is very dim. My neighbors have electic spotlights on their trees and it is a much better look, much more light. I would go with electric the next time.

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

I have 6 of these lights, 3 single and 2 double up-lighting my trees, arbor and garden statuary. They do not shed the same light as the low voltage lighting you see in landscape adds, but the 2 minute installation and no cost operation are priceless. The light is "white" as opposed to "yellow" and may require 2 single lamps to uplight a very large tree but they are well worth it. They are the brightest LED's I've seen and worth the price.

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

I needed a simple off the shelf solution to enhance the lighting on a walkway around a 5-star hotel. These solar lights turned out to be a very good solution to the problem. The 15' distance from the solar panel to the lights gave me the flexibility to locate the panels where they would not be as visibible. My request would be for the manufacturer to consider desining a metal pole that you could mount the panels to, so during the winter months the panels would be out of the snow level. The light level was perfect for the application needed but I would say not to overestimate the amount of light given off.

These aren't too bad. they are brighter than normal solar lights. But they still omit the led/blue type light. definetly not as bright as halogens/etc, but they are quite durable. not benefitial in a winter climate, they hardly work when it snows and are barely light. a cord broke on one of mine, and I am trying find out how to replace it.

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

I wanted to replace an electric spot light with a solar light. Since these claim to be "ultra bright" and were quite expensive, I thought they'd be great. No such luck. They are quite dim, shed a pale bluish light that just barely illuminates my driveway & walkway. I have them mounted on the wall 7 feet up and they still do very little. Not a good purchase.

I bought two of them and will probably get the floodlight as well. I use one to illuminate my front porch- it gives just enought light when coming home at midnight from work- and saves me from turning on the electric porch light.
The other set is currently illuminating some seasonal yard decorations, but then will shine on the walkway. Not an extremely bright light, but a soft illumination.

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

All three solar panels (with six lights), are installed on the southern exposure of the sides of my house and garage. They need all day sun to stay on for the entire overnight. If there is rain or overcast, they will only stay on for a few hours before dimming and then going off. How the product fairs in cold, snowy, winter weather is not known, but the panels are installed high above ground in direct sun which should help.

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

I purchased 4 sets of these lights to accent the schrubs that I planted across my backyard. Although these are not quite as bright as the single ultra-bright spotlights that I use on my trees which have 16 LEDS each, they provide excellent accent lighting (6 LEDS each). They are the same great quality of the single spotlights (metal construction, durable, and easy to install).

Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

These lights were perfect for my application, to illuminate a fountain in our front yard. It is bright enough to highlight the fountain, but not a really bright light that would be obnoxious. It is also nice that it comes on at dusk and off in a few hours without us having to turn it on and off. Another reason we wouldn't want a really bright light, also. However, if you wanted to use it to really light up an area, this is not for you. It's a nice medium-level highlighter, but not for serious landscape lighting.

Excellent in the sunny months - saves money.... prevents you from having to keep an outdoor front porch light on. There is enough light from 1 spotlight to light up the front door while allowing you to use the 2nd spotlight for accent lighting. Comments about Dual Solar Spotlights:

These solar lights are great. They actually provide significant amounts of light. You can use them to highlight areas of the house or garden, such as stone walls or interesting shrubs. You can use them to light up the walkway. You can use them as a security light by mounting them pointing down. You can use them to generally light up the front of your house, if you use 2 sets. You can use them to light up a driveway address sign.

Of course, the color of the light is that cool blue light rather than a warm yellow light, so be prepared for that look.

Very much worth the money. Why can't the little solar pathway sets be made the same way with a lot of LED bulbs in them so that they would be decent pathway lights?
